MotoeXotica Classic Cars is pleased to present this statuesque and rarely seen low mileage 1989 560SL.This true European classic is one of the most iconic sports cars in history, with very little design changes throughout it’s history.
The Mercedes-Benz SL Roadster (formerly known as the SL Roadster prior to 1994) is a grand touring roadster manufactured by Mercedes since 1954. The designation SL derives from the German Sportlich-Leicht, (Sport Lightweight) and was first applied to the 300SL. The 560 SL was only sold in the USA, Canada, Japan, and Australia to compensate the reduced output of the 5.0-litres due to the stricter emission laws in these markets. All updated 86–89 models have the advantages of the more modern 4 pot brakes, larger discs, and suspension derived from the W124 sedan. The body itself is built with a modern paint system designed to improve protection from rust.
Finished in a beautiful Anthracite Grey Metallic (code DB-172) the paint job remains pretty much all original & unrestored shows well with only minor imperfections and slight fading visible upon inspection. The Cabernet red hard top has a an excellent fit and finish. Front bumper has a good fit, with slight finish issue on the drivers side, the rear bumper has an excellent fit and finish that shows well. The newer black soft top fits tight with no fading or scratching in the back window that we could find. All trim pieces are present and have a brilliant finish with little hazing and or dents that we could see. The weather stripping is still very pliable with very little shrinkage or drying. The U.S. spec headlights and taillights are in very condition with no hazing or cracks. The 15 inch original equipment wheels showed very little marring and curb rash.
Inside, the rich dove grey MB-Tex seats all look great with no major signs of wear visible. Excellent matching carpet throughout the interior. Overall the genuine wood looks great, however there is some finish lifting on the dash top by the windshield. The door panels and dashboard are matched perfectly with the exterior of the car and look fantastic. The headliner mirrors the rest of the cabin and completes the theme. The original steering wheel in great condition. Also included, cruise control, anti-theft warning system, automatic climate control, paintcoat preservation, power windows, power locks, first aid kit, sealed in plastic tool kit, hard top removal tool and Becker Gran Prix AM/FM radio. Included (In route from the previous owner) are the original owners manual and service books.
This nicely represented Mercedes features a 5.6 liter 227 hp eight-cylinder engine, 4-speed automatic transmission, four-wheel disc brakes, four-wheel independent suspension, limited slip differential. Silver 15 inch original Mercedes alloys with sport radial tires.
Rarely will you get the opportunity to own a low mileage and garaged car like this Mercedes. Ideal for cross- town or cross-country, this 560SL is the way it's suppose to be...luxurious exterior with the heart of German motorsports. GET OUT AND DRIVE!
Current mileage on the odometer shows 20,702 believed to be actual. The car is being sold as is on a clean & clear title.
