Car description |
---|
I have a 1987 Mercedes 560 SL roadster (R107 chassis), champagne gold, with a burgundy interior. The 560 SL was only produced for four years and this one will be 30 years old in 2017 (qualifies for the blue "classic car" license plate). This edition has the smaller, tail mounted, third stop light on the rear deck. It has the soft convertible top stored in the boot, and, as shown, I have the removable hard top, which is rarely used in Florida. The hard top for mine is stored, hanging in the garage, above the car, see photo. The hard top winch and hanger are also included in the sale. The previous owner replaced the original radio with a JVC stereo/CD player, but I still have the original Becker AM/FM Stereo Cassette player and it is included in the sale. I believe the 560 (5.6 liter V-8) was the largest production engine Mercedes made. The SL series is Mercedes' "luxury sports car" series.
Not a "show quality" car but in great shape; this car runs great, looks good, and is my weekend driver. It has been on several vacation trips around the state, such as Daytona Beach, Orlando, and Tampa, and always gets admiring looks, "great car" calls, and waves from onlookers.
After selling my business and retiring, I have transitioned into the Real Estate business and neither this roadster nor my small pickup truck are suitable for taking clients to look at houses. Therefore, one of the vehicles has to go, so I can get something that can carry a family of four, and I can't live without my pickup. So the "toy" must be replaced with something I can show houses in!
