This interesting car's history dates back to where it was sold new at A & B Auto Sales in Fairbanks. Alaska. The car would remain in Alaska the majority of its life. driven on a few fair weather days each year. The car has remained in very good condition. The mileage of 45. 97 is believed original to the car. The car was owned through the 2000s by the same gentleman. We have the original owner's manual. warranty booklet. and Mercedes literature & additional booklets. all provided on initial purchase and stamped with the dealership's stamp. This car is fresh out of a 5 year storage here in Texas. just receiving nearly $5. 00 worth of maintenance here at Texas Classic Cars of Dallas. The paint was refinished in the original green with fresh base/clearcoat paint in 2014 with a verifying receipt. The braking system has also been gone through. The Super Sport Wide Oval F70-14 Poly-Bias tires were new tires installed last month. They are actually redl ine tires. the red lines displayed opposite side. The Pagoda style auxillary hardtop is in very good condition. original and the paint refinished along with the car. The headliner is in good condition. The convertible soft top is also in good condition. seldom used. The rear corners shown some wear. photographed. The back window is clear and the canvas shows well throughout. The top affixes firmly into position. The boot stow area is solid as well and original. This car was clearly kept out extreme elements in its lifetime. Drop the top and enjoy this stunning vintage 1969 Mercedes-Benz 280SL. The 280SL was built to be the replacement for the 190SL and fabled 300SL cars. The interior is in good condition. The seating shows minimum wear. The carpeting has a rubbed hole on the driver's side. while the flooring itself is in excellent condition. The steering wheel has cracks from age. The dash displays all original gauges along with the Blaupunkt radio. Under the hood is the factory 2. 8 liter inline-6. This powerplant runs smooth and is paired with the factory 4-speed manual transmission. Further inspection of the engine compartment will showcase factory welds along both sides of the inner fender lips. The inner fenders themselves. firewall. and core support sheet metal is in excellent condition. The original trim identification plate is intact. The undercarriage shows some age. recently pressure washed and detailed here at Texas Classic Cars of Dallas. The structure is in excellent condition. The flooring is intact throughout as are the inner quarter panels. rocker panels. door undersides. etc. We cleaned the differential. engine and transmission undersides along with the suspension. The muffler has a few holes in it. The trunk is in solid. good condition. complete with the factory mat. spare tire/wheel and jacking equipment.
