1978 Mercedes 280CE

Handsome and sporty in a sophisticated kind of way. This coupe sits on a three inch shortened W123 chassis that MB built for these cars. I believe they built 2.5 million total cars on the W123 chassis before its model run was over - so parts are readily available and reasonably priced.The double over-head cam in-line 6 cylinder gas engine shows excellent oil pressure and has had the head recently refreshed. Brakes are strong and tires are less than a year old with very few miles accumulated. Likewise, the transmission and differential are in good shape.The body is in good driver-quality condition, as is the paint, interior and glass.The sunroof operates smoothly and doesn't leak. The two front cabin windows are slow but the motors get them up and down. the rears can be lowered a few inches and then it's obvious they aren't happy. The vacuum door locks don't operate and neither does the interval position for the wipers. A previous owner has removed the EGR and Air pump system as well as the air conditioning. Recent tune-up and fluid changes.This coupe is comfortable in the way only Mercedes knows how.
