***THIS IS A 1984 300D GRAY MARKET EURO-SPEC MODEL. I HAD TO LIST AS A 1980 BECAUSE EBAY DIDN'T RECOGNIZE THE VIN#.***
This diesel Benz has just 136k miles -- that's barely broken in for these legendary 5-cylinder engines. This is the non-turbo model.
She's all original, with all her beltline trim and chrome pieces, and very little rust. I think I'm the 3rd owner.
Air conditioning works and has been updated to CFC-Free refrigerant. 4-speed automatic transmission. Power steering, brakes and passenger side mirror. Climate control. Cruise control.
I have had the following maintenance items and work performed:
> new Goodyear Assurance tires (x4)
> new front brake calipers (x2) with brake fluid flush
> new engine block heater element and cord with new coolant flush
> valve adjustments
> automatic transmission tune-up (shifts great once she's warmed up)
> new rear shocks
> new rear stabilizer bar links
> new primary and secondary fuel filters
> new air filter element
> new engine mounts
> new JVC in-dash radio with Bluetooth and USB connections (original radio comes with car, too)> new dual horns
Car runs like a top and gets about 23 MPG in combined city/hwy driving. I wouldn't hesitate to drive this sedan cross-country. Completely dependable. Great car for your college kid!
Here are the not-so-perfect aspects of the car:
> passenger side rear window crank handle cracked -- need a new one (easy fix in junkyard)> front passenger fender seems to have been replaced -- not sure when the accident occurred or how bad the accident was> typical rust in all the usual places for these 300-series cars: jack ports on rocker panels, battery tray, rear window trim, bottom of wheel arches> I stop-gapped and fixed rust in a few areas, but a pro-body man could've done better. I used POR-15 and Bondo/fiberglass cloth at end of driver-side wheel arch beneath corner of trunk; and at end of passenger front wheel arch down by trim. Michaelangelo I ain't.> headlight aim dial doesn't work on center console> rear stereo speakers aren't connected to new radio (too much work so I didn't bother)> dash clock inoperative. Not sure what's wrong. It seemed to work intermittently, but then stopped.> dash has UV cracks and glovebox is misaligned due to cracked plastic interior trim plate.> Zebrano wood trim strips on dash have come off and are warped. Previous owner tried to glue them back on, but left a messy trail of attempts. :(> hood hinges got bent a little when previous owner tried to slam the hood after it had been clicked upright into locked position. :( But they work fine.> underhood insulation mat missing. Glue residue left behind.
