Car description |
---|
I am selling a 1987 Mercedes-Benz 560 SEC that I purchased this car in Long Island, NY, in May 2016. I drove the car 300 miles home and it ran very well. I haven't really driventhe carmuch since then so I decided that I should sell it. Since it's been sitting for a few months, I expect it to be a little sticky.
The car is black with grey interior and has extremely low mileage for it's year. The seats are in excellent condition and the springs do not sag at all (this is a common problem with all 126 model Benzes). The carpets are in good shape, but the dashboard does have a couple of cracks in it and the wood on the center console has some chips.
The exterior of the car still has its original black paint and it presents well from a few feet away, but it should be repainted at some point. The body is rust-free except for the common rust problem at the base of the rear window under the trunk lid. The rust was repaired with Bondo by the previous owners and it is waterproof, but it looks messy. Also, the trunk is bare of carpeting and spare tire because it was thrown away by the previous owner. The rims are not original, but they are AMG from a newer model Benz and the tires have good tread on them.
Since I haven't driven it much, I can't say much about the mechanics other than it drove fine from Long Island, NY, to Boston, MA. The sunroof is closed and doesn't want to open - not sure what's wrong. Also, the windows work, but are slow.
If you're familiar with these W126 cars, you know that MB has declared them "Young Classics", which implies that they will be collectible in the near future. The W126 coupe has been called the best looking coupe ever designed by Benz and it's the model that future coupes have been based on. The car got looks and "nice car" comments on my way back to Boston. The car needs some work to be perfect, but it's a great car to drive while you restore it. Please contact me if you have any questions.
