Car description

Up for auction is my 1976 Frankenbenz project car. This car was the result of a lifelong obsession with the Mercedes 6. 9. and involved taking a damaged 1979 450SEL 6. 9 (with 124k original miles) and transplanting the entire drivetrain (engine. dry sump. tranny. differential. etc) into a short wheelbase 450SE body from 1976. (My goal was to avoid the troublesome hydropneumatic suspension issues which plague many current 6. 9's). The interior and many other bits were swapped as well. This was completed in 2008. and since then numerous customizations and upgrades have been added. The Full history of Frankenbenz:http://www. frankenbenz. com/project. htmPhotos of Frankenbenz taken last month:https://onedrive. live. com/redir?resid=8B1DE6D451A9359E!25779&authkey=!AN7Zz5_9_GkWPm4&ithint=folder%2cjpgPhotos of extra parts also available with the car:https://onedrive. live. com/redir?resid=8B1DE6D451A9359E!25932&authkey=!AAk7YhyODz0KdTY&ithint=folder%2cjpgI have given Frankenbenz a loving home since he first came home over six years ago. but it's time to make room in the garage for my next project. So. I'm looking for a good home that will take care of this car and enjoy it. I'll try to be as thorough as possible. but if you don't see your answer here or on the website. please feel free to ask and I'll post your question along with the response for everyone to read. First of all. please read through the website link above. I did a thorough documentation of the entire conversion process and even had the finished product dyno tested. so even if you're not interested in the car at least it's an entertaining read. Some of the upgrades include a 300E w124 seat belt conversion. CRAZY custom stereo (MB Quart. JL audio. etc). ultra-rare 16" Penta rims as well as good condition original Bundts. auto-dimming rear view mirror with homelink and compass (custom from 2Phast Motorsports). nearly new tires. full Euro headlight conversion. 6. 9 bumpers and interior swap from donor car too. Almost forgot to mention that I have a full 17+ minute description video on YouTube. https://www. youtube. com/watch?v=3HjtQ61QYCs I recently took the car to my mechanic. so now Frankenbenz has new front calipers and brakes. and new rear calipers. rotors. and brakes. as well as a full brake flush. Additionally. below is the nearly complete list of all the additional parts that will come with Frankenbenz. Photos here: http://1drv. ms/UXLauZ Since I started with two cars and ended up with one. I took the best of the parts for Frankenbenz and kept anything that was in good shape. Here's a list of what I've photographed: The four original Bundt rims with tires. Two of the tires are good. and two are brand new (the ones with the whitewalls on the inside). I also took a picture of the spare tire. Original 6. 9 dash with 6. 9-specific wood. Some blistering in the dash. but I've been told that it's repairable. Extra sunroof motor. extra taillights and inside assemblies. Replacement climate control module. and fire-damaged 6. 9 climate control module. My goal here was to take the wood from the 6. 9's assembly and put it on the good base with the good dials/switches. I kept the original center console wood. but the bottom got quite crispy. Extra set of side mirrors. I put the better set on the car. but I kept these just in case. Original rear view mirror. Currently the fancy auto-dimming with homelink/compass mirror is installed. Fog lights from the 450. They didn't work and I thought they looked ugly. so I took them off. 6. 9 Brake booster. Original gauge cluster. You can see some of the fire damage on the back. You can also see the original mileage before the fire. which is much closer to what's on the car now. Original US spec headlights with full second set of lights. Extra alternator. blower motor. front marker light. Extra radio antenna. Crispy ash tray. Wood in good shape. though. Full lock set from the original 6. 9 (complete with old 6. 9 keychain). I kept all the lock mechanisms just in case someone ever wanted a full matching set of w116 locks. Extra seat belts. I put the best of the belts on the car. and the fronts are from a modern 300E. but I kept all the other belts just in case. Smog pump. I don't know why I kept this one. :) Extra driveshaft. I also have an early 70's short front bumper from before they went to the diving boards. It looks like a Euro bumper. but I decided to stick with the original 6. 9 ones instead.
