For your consideration is my 1985 Mercedes 300D W123 with the OM617 3. 0L 5 Cyl Turbo Diesel motor. The transmission went out on New Years Eve and I'm not in the position to repair it and just want to sell it. I replaced the motor in 2012 when the original one lost compression and the replacement motor (purchased here on eBay) was supposed to have around 215k-225k miles on it. The swap was done when the car had just under 425k on it so it's been 21k miles on the replacement motor with no issues other than oil leaks that have developed. Other parts replaced over the past 3. 5 years include: brake lines (front). both flex discs. RF door check. 4 Michelin tires at around 421k. put new headlight doors on it. I put a remanufactured A/C compressor on it when I first got it and the air worked for a while and stopped again- never looked into it again. I purchased the car in May 2011 locally in Nashville. Tn from the son of the original owner (I presume). His father was a traveling salesman and racked up miles on the car quickly. He actually had 3 maintenance booklets full of stamped services from new thru about 2003 or so when the son took ownership of the car. I still have these and they will go with the car along with some records from my ownership. The car has always been a Middle Tennessee car. The exterior is well aged for the age and miles on the car. Paint is faded in areas and has several scratches. dings (no real dents that I can see). and of course the rust pictured on the rear wheel wells (passenger side is worse more than driver side). The RR quarter panel looks like it may have had some prior damage or rust related problems addressed at one time as the paint is faded more than the rest of the car and doesn't look right. All the glass is in decent shape. The interior is also decent for the age and miles on the car. The car had sheepskins on the front seats when I bought it and helped preserve the color of them so they haven't really turned pink much. The springs in the driver seat could use repair. The passenger seat has a small slit on the seat bottom skin (on one of the 'ribs'). Wood is in decent shape. actually better than most I've seen. Dash has a few cracks in it so I put a dash cover to keep any further cracks from forming- it's a blue dash cover and is NOT included as I'm keeping it for another car. Electrics: All windows work except Driver's rear. Sunroof worked when I first got it but haven't tried it since. Antenna worked when I first got it but is having issues now. Cruise never worked. probably needs a good amp put in. A/C is not working as stated above- not sure what the culprit is. Heat works good. The odometer and trip meter work. fuel gauge works. temp gauge doesn't work. tachometer doesn't work. I think the clock works but can't remember for sure. There are 2 different sets of keys for the car as we had to change out the door locks when driver's lock seized. There's one key for the locks and one key for the ignition (and maybe some spares that were made). The vacuum locks worked for a little bit and I think are having issues again. I loaned the car to my brother the past 2 years so he could have transportation and need to find him something else. that's why I'm selling it. He wasn't the best at keeping the car cleaned so I apologize about the pictures of the trash and such. I will try to get him to clean the car out and get some better photos if needed but it'll be the weekend before I can get back where the car is. The motor alone is worth what I'm asking for the car. Good car to fix up or use for parts. The car is located in Smyrna. Tennessee zip 37167 (about 20 miles South of Nashville). Due to the condition. age and miles on the car it is being sold AS-IS with NO warranty expressed or implied. The car will need to be towed from current location (a campground) and probably not suitable for an 18-wheel truck to load it. I will require a $150. 00 deposit paid via PayPal within 48 hours of auction close (immediately if Buy-it-Now is used) and the remainder to be paid upon pickup in Cash. Pickup must be arranged within 7-10 days after close of auction and weekends are best for me. I have a clean TN title in Hand to sign over to buyer upon pickup. **If you have any questions regarding the car. or arranging pick up please contact me first before placing a bid or using the Buy-it-Now option!** On Jan-11-15 at 00:46:31 PST. seller added the following information:I've gotten some information I thought I should add to the description for any prospective buyer. I met with my brother today who's been driving the car and got it cleaned up and took more detailed photos. I may not be able to add them here but can e-mail them to anyone who's interested. Some other things I should point out after visiting my brother and cleaning the car up some. My brother told me that shortly before the transmission gave up the brakes were starting to get a little soft. While cleaning out the car. vacuuming and such I noticed the passenger front floor mat was a bit wet so there's a leak somewhere letting water in- I pulled up the actual carpet and there was no noticeable water puddled up on the floor pan (and it is not rusty either). My brother also mentioned to me that when the heat is turned on it seems to only blow on the defrost mode and or vents- not sure what this could be. Also. I remember that the center vents did not function correctly when I bought this car in 2011. most likely the pods need replacement. I took better photos of the interior. the dash looks great with a few cracks in a few inconspicuous areas and a noticeable (the largest) one by the passenger side. The interior will still need a good scrubbing. carpets shampooed and general going over though the mess has been removed and I did clean the console area up some. Another note. the clock DOES work! Also. the car is equipped with a block heater but the plug needs to be replaced as it had been broken off from the cord. Here in Middle Tennessee we've experienced quite a bit of cold weather the past 4-5 days and my brother has gone out and start the car and let it idle for 20-30 minutes at a time (up to twice a day) to keep fluids circulated. He's mentioned that the car has always started on the first try. and though you could tell the motor was cold and idled a bit rough it fired up immediately with no issues. The car also needs both rear door stops (check straps). With all this being said. the car does need some work if the buyer wants to put it back on the road but it is a solid start and has a fairly nice interior (considering the mileage at least!). Or it can serve as a good parts car with tons of great parts including a GREAT motor! Last few pictures here show the R/R quarter panel. To me it looks like there may have been some paint work done here and possibly body filler or something. I'm no expert but that's what it looks like to me.
