Car description |
---|
This Mercedes belonged to my late father, who oversaw a complete mechanical rebuild of the engine and essential mechanicals. For the past five years, it has been started and driven around town several times a year.
Be sure to see more photos and videos in the links below. Please ask any questions and I'll answer as best I can.
Engine & mechanical:
$8K+ engine rebuild by a top MB engine shop (Metric Motors; see receipts of all work done)
Runs strong, cruises comfortably at 70 mph
Hard starting after sitting for a 1+ week (common problem to gas Pontons)
Brakes strong however haven't been serviced in 8 years; ought to be gone over
Minimal oil drips
Transmission strong, shifts flawlessly
MB battery replaced ~4 years ago
Speedometer doesn’t work (was told by mechanic that problem is not with in-dash unit nor cable (replaced new) but likely with something in the transmission that was installed backwards); no functional problems while driving, however.
Interior:
Leather seats are nice, though not original
Headline in very good shape
Interior wood is complete (with a piece cracked to the left of the steering wheel)
Not all dash knobs fully functional (lights, choke, starter all good though)
Exterior:
Rust free, save some surface rust in the trunk. The car appears to have been garaged most, if not all, of its life.
Rear right engine light not wired up (comes with necessary bulbs)
New brake light housing on right rear
I replaced the right rear fender (to replace the original, which had been damaged in a parking lot. The fit is OK but not 100% and a different shade of green.
Nicks and chips here and there; see photos
Missing several pieces of chrome on the lower running boards, both sides
Chrome bumpers in good shape and complete, save missing two "overriders" in the back
Tires about 10 years old
