Offered for sale is a gorgeous, 26k mile, completely original, incredibly clean, well serviced, two-owner 1987 Mercedes Benz 560SL finished in ceaselessly tasteful Arctic White over Dark Blue leather with a matching Dark Blue soft top. Sold new to a real estate developer & investor in Waco, TX, the car would remain in his care until 1996, at which point it was sold with 20k miles to its second and most recent owner, an oil and gas executive in Austin, TX. As one of many cars in his stable, the second owner used the SL sparingly, accruing a mere 6k miles in nearly 20 years of ownership. Both owners ensured the car was always professionally maintained and garaged throughout its life, resulting in the immaculate, completely original condition that the car remains in today.
The completely original Arctic White finish is in excellent condition, marred only by the most negligible of imperfections, none of which are significant enough to appear in any of the pictures. The finish cloaks an entirely straight and original body with factory consistent panel fits and gaps, and there’s absolutely no evidence of accidents or paintwork. All of the chrome, rubber and glass are in great original shape, as are both the soft and hard tops. The car’s beautifully off-setting Dark Blue interior is equally as clean, the leather seats showing only the minimal wear typical of any 26k example, the interior panels excellent and the hard-top’s headliner entirely perfect. The dash and wood trim are free of cracks or warping and the original Becker radio remains intact and fully functional. The near flawless original wheels are wrapped in Michelin tires with plenty of remaining tread and, having spent a lifetime garaged in the dry Texas climate, the car’s undercarriage is unsurprisingly completely original and rust free.
The combination of an incredibly well engineered drivetrain and consistent professional maintenance has yielded an example that’s exceedingly strong mechanically. The 5.6L engine starts easily, idles smoothly and consistently and pulls strongly and smoothly through each of the gears. The brakes were done less than 2k miles ago and the ride quality is excellent, thoroughly civilized whether tooling through town, winding through the canyons or bombing down the highway at Autobahn speeds. The car comes with a stack of service receipts, all of its original manuals and pamphlets, a completely stamped original service booklet, the original data card and “Protect-O-Plate”, its four original keys, the original first aid kit, a full size spare tire, toolkit and a completely clean CARFAX report.
This is an excellent opportunity to acquire a gorgeous, low mileage, two-owner, completely original and exceptionally well looked-after 560SL. Whether you’re a Mercedes collector or just an enthusiast in the market for an appreciating modern classic, this striking original example deserves your serious consideration.
