HelloI am selling my 1988 Mercedes 560SL. If you are familiar with R107 SL's, ou know the 560SL is the most sought after and considered the best U.S spec SL ever made; with its large 5.6 V8, arger front air dam, mproved climate control, ual row timing chain and more.Overview:105,750 milesThis 560SL was ordered in 1988 from Rader Volkswagen Inc in Augusta, A spec'd with color code 568 Signal Red Paint, 74 Palomino Interior, nd 745 Brown Soft Top. I have the original window sticker showing retail pricing of $62,430 (about $128,000 in today's money), riginal owner's manuals, rder sheet, nd both keys. It remained a 1 owner car until I purchased it not long ago, nd has never spent time outside of the South (NO RUST). The odometer and all instrumentation works as it should (minus the clock being slow). It was driven sparingly and has just about 106,000 miles.Cosmetic Condition:On a scale of 1-10 I would rate the interior a 9, nd the exterior a 9 as well. It has a clean carfax, traight panels and all original paint. The paint is in very nice shape with minor flaws for a 26 year old car. The car has 0 rust, iterally none. The chrome (anodized alum) is in great condition with no pitting or staining. The rubber, nd trim is also very nice. The soft top is in good condition, swater tight and shows almost no signs of wear. It is obvious that it was taken care of and garaged. The interior is in amazing condition with new seat upholstery. The dash does have a hairline crack, he trunk lid has a minor ding which can be repaired via PDR if you desire, nd the rear bumper has anickel size ding (just being completely up front). I have pictures of the original seats which were in good shape, ut not up to my spec.Cosmetically in the past 1,000 miles I have done:-Reupholstered front seats-Refinished the wood, nstalled matching shifter-Clay barre, olished paint and sealed with Opticoat-Refinished wheels-Adjusted hardtop cable-Installation of 3M Crystalline Ceramic Window Tint (60% tint), an be removed-New Hardtop CarrierMechanicals:I have a thick binder of records dating back to the 1980's to the present. It was mainly dealer maintained up until 2005, nd then maintained by the dealer and German Autowerks of Columbia, C. I have records totaling just about $12,000 in services and work done from the original owner. Prior to my purchasing, t had the major 90,000 mile timing chain, ensioner, iming chain rails done (This is huge, wouldn't even consider buying an SL without proof of this work being done). My mechanic locally has done some work as well (German Auto Repair). Everything works on the car as it should, ven the cruise control.Mechanically in the past 1,000 miles I have done:-4 New Kumho Tires-L + R Tie Rod assemblies-Steering Stabilizer-All new brake rotors (front and rear) and pads F + R upgraded to ceramic - system flushed-Complete A/C overhaul (new lines, ryer and conversion to R-134A) It is extremely cold, ven in our 90+ weather with 90 humidity.-Oil Change-Spark Plugs (NGK), lug wires (Karl), ir filter and OEM Idle Control ValvePositives:-0 Rust-All original paint-Very clean inside and out-Mechanically strong, verything functions as it should.-Up to date on all services.-Extensive documentationNegatives:-Minor hairlines cracks on dash-A bit of play in the steering wheel, ut nothing large and was told its something to live with-Minor seepage from passenger side valve coverAbout myself:Car junkie, pecifically Mercedes. I am graduating from the College of Charleston in May and just purchased a more economical solution to post grad life, nd have the opportunity to purchase a cheaper 450sl to satisfy my tinkeringLet me know if you have any questions. I am happy to discuss the car and tell you everything I know about. I also have about 60 photos, s well as a video. I am happy to assist you with shipping or transportIt is worth noting thepinstripe is just 3M adhesive sticker and can be removed with no negative effects!NOTE: Please do not hit "buy it now" without talking to me.
