Introduced to the public in Spring of 1971, he all new Mercedes-Benz R107 SL became available as a personal luxury sports car. Nicknamedde Panzerwagenfor weighing in at more than 3,400 pounds, he new SL for model year 1972 was a completely new body, ith new luxury and safety refinements. A completely redesigned engine was housed underneath the hood, 4.5 liter SOHC V8 mated to a 3-speed automatic transmission. By the late 1970's and early 1980's Mercedes-Benz had to meet constant changing emissions controls, herefore, ausing lower compression and lowerhorsepower. For 1985 Mercedes-Benz upped the performance of the SL by placing their new 5.6 litre V8 engine into the car, ringing performance back to where it should have been. Introduced in Summer of 1985, he 560SL’s new 5.6 litre aluminum engine gave more horsepower and higher compression and smoother power output. The SL was given the performance it needed and with sales exceeding expectations the 560SL continued to be the reigning king of the luxury roadsters.
European Motor Studio is proud to offer this beautiful 2 owner 1987 Mercedes-Benz 560SL Roadster finished in Signal Red over Palomino leather with a dark brown top. This 560SL roadster was invoiced to Viti INC Mercedes-Benz in Rhode Island where it sold to its first owner on March 3 25 1987. The car has traveled a mere 96,640 miles from new and has been exceptionally well cared from by its two owners in its life. The beautiful Signal Red paint shows beautifully still retaining a beautiful deep luster and shine. Other than a few small stone chips in the front nose the paint shows well and the body is free from any dents or dings. All of the trim is in excellent condition and showing only minimal wear or age (some of the aluminum finish is just starting to haze and there is one small scrape on the driver side rear bumper). The interior is in exceptional original condition. The leather is still soft and supple with almost no wear on either of the seats. The original dash board is in excellent condition and completely untouched. There are no cracks or shrinkage anywhere and the center console is in excellent condition as well. All of the wood is in beautiful condition retaining a nice color free from any major discoloration. All of the gauges are in excellent condition still retaining a nice orange color on all of the dials and all of the switchgear on the dash and center console are all in excellent undamaged condition. The softop is the original German canvas and in beautiful condition free from any fade or damage and retaining its original marking and logos. The engine starts right up and idles smoothly and freely. There is no smoke under start up or acceleration and the engine pulls exceptionally well. The gearbox is smooth and shifts into all of its gears with ease and without any hesitation or clunking. The steering is nice and tight and free from any drifting or movement in the wheel. The brakes are excellent and free from any fade or grinding (brand new front pads). The suspension is nice and tight and free from any rattles or noises. All of the electronics are operating as designed. The interior and exterior lights are all working including all of the dash lights and courtesy lights. The original Becker radio is operating as designed including the power antenna, he AC blows ice cold and the heater is blowing hot. The power windows all work as designed and the door locks and mirror are working as well. This is an excellent running and driving 560SL that has been exceptionally well cared for and has been stored properly. There are no signs of rust anywhere on the car and the undercarriage is very clean and well cared for. The car comes with its original books, ouch, ool roll, pare tire, pare tire tag, nd first aid kit.
