1990 Mazda 626 LX 5-door hatchback. 3rd owner (but 2nd driver). 82. 03 miles. This car was purchased new in Washington state in 1990. That owner traded the car to a Seattle. WA Chevy dealer in 2012. I purchased the car from the dealer and had it shipped to me in MN. I am technically the 3rd owner. but realistically the 2nd owner/driver. The car had 74K miles on it when I bought it 3 years ago. It now has 82. 03 (the car is driven 2K-3K per year. so the mileage may be higher when the auction ends). Since purchase. I have replaced or repaired nearly every mechanical item on the car that needed repair. needed replacement. or could fail. There is. at the moment. nothing left I can do to make the car any more mechanically perfect than it already is. It is easier to list what I have not repaired or replaced (regarding mechanical items) than list all that I have (see photos for repair receipts):--Short block--HeadOther than the above. every bulb (interior and exterior) . belt. seal. hose. clamp that can be replaced was. Transmission was rebuilt by the best shop in the Twin Cities due to the age of the transmission. Struts. brakes. timing belt. water pump. engine mounts. tires. control arms. wheel bearings. exhaust. a/c. on and on (and on and on) has been replaced or repaired. whether it needed it or not (see photos of most receipts for repairs and replacements - the receipt you see for $5000 was for the main restoration of all things mechanical). The tech shop that did the work is one of the best in the state. and his shop's work is flawless. I should mention that I have not used. nor tested. the cassette player. because. I don't have any cassettes. It's possible the cassette player doesn't work. but I doubt it: the radio and everything related to it works flawlessly. The only 2 things not standard is 1) a transmission cooler that I had installed. This gives the transmission the longest life possible. and is a recommended improvement for this car (on that note. I also had all TSB's addressed - at least. the ones I could find online for a 25-year old car). And 2). I had larger and far better front-disc brakes installed as the old ones had warped. The new ones are far thicker. will last far longer than the OEMs. and are the best money can buy. Every single item on the car works as new. except for what is listed below:-- A burnt out dash bulb that shows the transmission's gear when it is in DRIVE. That's it. Everything else works flawlessly. Power antenna. a/c. radio. rear-wiper (and fluid dispenser). everything works. I would drive the car cross country today with nothing more than filling the tank and leaving the state (and getting about 27MPG on the highway). If you can't surmise by now. if there was anything that was NOT perfect with this car. it would have been addressed. I have literally run out of things to address. There is no signs of any accidents. nor accident repair. The "LX" sticker on one side of the car appears to have been replaced (you must look very hard to notice) and there is slight uneveness on the body near the sticker. Again. this is almost imperceptible. As well. there are several small imperfections in the body. and for a 25 year-old car with original paint and body. I would give the body a 9. 5 out of 10. The paint still shines. I had a very good paint fella buff the roof and hatchback as both were slightly faded. I have never allowed anyone. on any of my cars. to do this. This fella was the first. and he assured me when he was done. the paint would be in excellent shape and shine. He was right. The interior has 2 stains - one on the backseat passenger side. and one on the backseat passenger carpet. I have had the car professionally detailed and cleaned twice a year. and the shop did a good job of removing almost all of the (2) stains. For a car this age. I would give the interior a 9 out of 10. I have applied Gummi Pflege Stift (if you don't know what this is. it is a magic elixir of some kind) on all body trim seals twice a year. to keep them fully formed (age and weather shrinks them). The seals. throughout the car. are a 9 out of 10. The steering column plastic cover has discolored (it is now a lighter shade of blue than the rest of the interior) but the pictures make it seem more mismatched than it actually is. The car has never seen snow (at least since I have owned it). there is zero rust. and no signs of ever being in snow. I have kept it in a climate-controlled garage since purchasing it in 2012. The car needs nothing. it is mechanically perfect. drives flawlessly. and is a rare find. This car may be the nicest 626 LX 5-door in the country. The car is for sale locally and I reserve the right to end the auction early if it sells before auction-end . I will assist in shipping the car. but all shipping expense is paid by the winner of the auction. Please check my feedback - I have sold several cars on Ebay and would never misrepresent any item. I have done my best to describe this car as accurately as possible. I reserve the right to delete any bids from potential buyers with negative feedback or less than 10 feedback items. Good luck!
