Car description |

1994 Mazda MX-5 Miata classic white roadster. "Back to basics sports car with modern reliability". "Incredible degree of driver engagement". "A true driver's car." No reserve.
A garage kept, low mileage (71k), weekend car. "A" option package. 5 speed manual. No rust issues, rocker and quarter panels solid. No check engine lights. Current inspection. No known mechanical issues. Good oil pressure readings. No smoke. No seal/fluid leaks. Brakes good, clutch releases smoothly and holds solid, engine pulls strong and revs. freely. No major accidents, clean title.
Factory model year upgrades make 1994 a desirable year for 1st generation NA Miata enthusiasts. Better engine, brakes, safety and more rigid structure.
1994 NA factory model changes from previous years:
- 1.6 motor upped to 1.8 liter. No crank bolt keyway issues. - Torsen Limited Slip Differential. (Optional, included on this car)
- Enlarged brake discs. - Front subframe brace added. - Rear subframe brace changed. - Cockpit brace added behind seats.
- Passenger air bag standard. - Inside door safety beams added.
- 14 x 6 light alloy wheels.
I have owned this Miata for two enjoyable years. I am only selling to help finance/make room for a Boxster project (I know... from the practical to the impractical, regrets may be in my future). However I have a mechanical background and enjoy the work. Recent standard maintenance, and maintenance done to address common Miata NA issues include:
- New vinyl convertible top with zip out rear vinyl window (zip out gives a 3rd roof option). - 4 new SenSen gas shocks w/ new shock bumpers. - Synthetic gearbox fluid (Motorcraft @ $26 qt., recommended) - Shifter bushings rebuilt, trans. tunnel fluid changed, shifter rubber boots good.
- GL-5 synthetic differential fluid. - Mobil 1 synthetic engine oil and filter. - New fuel injector O rings and seals. - New cam sensor O ring. - New fuel filter. - New plugs, engine timing checked.
- Separate fuel pump relay upgrade done, including new main relay replaced. - Roof drains and front/rear rocker drains cleared.
- Previous owner stated he replaced timing belt and water pump at recommended 60k. - Previous owner replaced cat. with stainless steel resonator, also replaced stock air box with aftermarket air filter. - Previous owner also replaced stock radio with Kenwood CD/radio.
Full disclosure, known issues: - Has AC option but not working. Compressor clutch engages so assume it needs a recharge. Didn't really miss it.
- Interior very good with slight wear on driver seat bolster. Repaired with fabric glue outside, reinforced patch inside. See picture. - Paint very good with several very minor dings expected on a 26 year old car. - Touched up scratches on front/rear bumper paint, small crack on right front bumper. See picture. Scrapes underneath bumpers. - Two slight dings underneath on both frame rails from U-Haul ramps (low car), cosmetic damage.
- Headrest speakers option not working, aftermarket mini A pillar speakers installed. - Tires around 50% but good Contential ContiTouringContacts.
- Alloy rims currently on the car are not year correct. I will include a set of correct rims w/ tires, but tires have some uneven wear. - Both sets of rims are black plasti-dip spray painted but in good condition. - Does not have the ABS option. - Missing top boot cover.
Very low classic car insurance (certain conditions must be met), new and used parts readily available and reasonably priced, easy to work on, large on-line community for information and tutorials. Proven reliability. If used only as a weekend car, properly stored and cared for this low mileage 1st generation Miata will appreciate/hold in value as you enjoy it. If I had the space I would keep it.
Inspection encouraged, by appointment any time. Will respond to all questions. I have represented this used car to the best of my knowledge and it is being sold in as is condition with no warranty implied.
$500 PayPal deposit due within 24 hours of auction end. Remainder due at pick-up as cash or bank check.
