Car description |
---|
I bought this car in 2002. Ever since then it has not seen rain or bad weather and has been garaged, under cover. Religiously I started it every month, if I didn't drive it, and ran it for about a half hour varying the engine speed. Over the years I am ashamed to admit only driving i a total of 7,151 miles! I purchased it from an owner who did not know it is essentially a two stroke where it draws oil from the crankcase and injects it into the rotor housings for lubrication. That being said you have to check the oil because it is designed to use it and the oil must be topped off every second or third tank full of gas. He didn't and seized the engine. With 38,745 miles he put in a BRAND NEW FACTORY ENGINE - complete! In 2002 it cost him $7,596.61 to have it done. His wife promptly forced him to sell the car and that is where I bought it with less than 100 miles on a brand new engine.
Over the next two years I dialed it in, had an RX7 specialty shop tune and adjust it for maximum performance without going to unreliable increased boost. I also had a custom body shop do a complete paint job using epoxy sealer and primer and five coats of Mazda's - Blazing Metallic Copper color with five coats of clear. It was sprayed in a dustless environment and cured in an oven. For this every bit of trim, all glass, and doors, hatch, hood were first removed. It is beautiful and was exhibited in the Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix and Show and the Carlisle Import Car Show. It just dosen't do it justice sitting in a garage now and at 25 years it is one antique that is frequently confused by on lookers as a new car. I simply tell them "It was new in 1993!"
Below is a partial list of things I have done but I have forgotten some details over the past 16 years.
Turbos completely rebuiltRemapping and tuning of ECU (about 325hp)New spark plugs and wires
Greddy 4" Stainless exhaust with twin tailpipeNew hoses and beltsFactory rear wing
Knightsport carbon fiber vented hood (painted with body color)Type 99 front bumperClear marker lightsLED driving lightsAlpine stereoNew embroidered carpet floor mats
Aluminum Wheels with Exta tiresNew rubber seals on windowsNew tinted windshield with a spare that goes with itInterior tinted windows and hatch
Cross drilled rotors with padsSilicon DOT 5 brake fluidRoyal Purple transmission oilShort throw shifter
In the last three years I have only put on a little less than 100 miles. It is time for someone who can appreciate it AND drive it to take over the reigns. You will probably ship it from Pgh to your location although you could drive it instead if you wanted. It has a clear PA title and currently has classic plates and is PA inspected.
