Here I have listed the good, the bad, and the ugly of this truck with full confidence we will both walk away 100% satisfied.
The Good:I bought this beauty of a truck off of a friend who bought it off of the grandson of the original owner. He, an elderly gentleman, used it to run around on his farm before storing it in his barn for many years (hence the low mileage and good cosmetic condition). Both the interior and exterior look great with minimal wear and tear considering its age. For the past two years this truck has been my daily driver for a short commute and has never failed to start up with the first turn of the key. The diesel engine runs like a champ and even when I filled the bed with mulch last spring the extra weight didn't even phase it. It has a working radio with a USB input, heat, vent, and fan for cooling (factory made with no A/C). It also happens to come with an old CB radio (picture 9) and exterior antenna on the roof (picture 10). I have not tested the CB radio. As you could imagine with a small truck like this the mileage is amazing. I usually only put in about $10 once a month. There is a lot more good to say about this truck but if you take a look at the pictures and imagine yourself cruising with the windows down with the thrum of its diesel engine purring through the stick shift... that about sums it up!
The Bad:There are only few minor operational issues that I know of with this truck:1. For the past few months there has been a slow leak of break fluid which I deal with by topping of the fluid. I simply haven't gotten around to researching how to replace the breaks.2. It used to have a slow coolant leak which I dealt with by topping off the coolant (there is a trend here). I recently replaced the temperature gauge thermistor which had a bad seal and I think that may have actually fixed this issue. I will have to drive it for another month or so to be sure.3. A section of the tailpipe just recently broke off. It rusted off; pure and simple. The section was after the catalytic converter so it has not affected its performance or sound. Still, I figured you should know.4. The door locks work fine but require a pretty strong turn with a key to unlock. Over time this has led to hairline fractures in the key. I have avoided breaking the key by just leaving one side of the truck unlocked at all times. A quick treatment of WD-40 on the locking parts would solve this issue. If only I could top off the door oil ;-).
The Ugly:Aside from the small dings and scrapes you see in the pictures the only major cosmetic issue in my opinion is a small crack in the front windshield that you can see in picture 11. The plastic bumpers on the sides have cracked and degraded over time but as you can see from pictures this doesn't even detract from how awesome it looks. This is truly a beautiful little truck and I look forward to passing it on to its next worthy owner.
