Car description

This is not your average 34-year-old Mazda RX-7. As you can see in the pictures, it's a bit different. The original plan for this car was to make it a track toy. Frankly, I don't have the time to enjoy it right now, so there's no sense in me keeping it. I could use the garage space.
The finish is a bit different. It's bare metal up top, with polishing marks to make it interesting. It is cleared, lightly. There's no rust issues on the car. Below the belt-line is flat black, as is the hood. It's a head turner, for sure. Of all the cars I've owned, this one gets the most attention. At traffic lights, it's a conversation starter. But if it's not for you, it wouldn't take much prep to have it painted. There are a few small dings here and there, but nothing that stands out. There are no big dents, and overall the body is solid.
Mechanically, the car runs and drives very well. The 12a sings right up to 8k RPMs, and does not smoke on acceleration. The 5 speed shifts smoothly. The brakes are good. If you decide to go the track route, like I had originally, I'd upgrade them. Nothing wrong, just a good idea. There is no AC, currently. The compressor was bad when I bought the car, and since my plan was to track it, I removed it and sent it to the compressor graveyard. AC is for wimps, anyway, and losing the compressor saved some weight. There's a Pace Setter header that feeds an inline Magnaflow, as well as a Magnaflow at the rear. It gets your attention, but isn't ridiculously loud.
*The oil pressure gauge is not working. I suspect it's a bad sending unit. Pressure is just fine. There is a slight leak (a couple of drips here and there each month), which may be related to the oil pressure sending unit. Looks to be in that vicinity.
The headlights work just fine, as do the tail lights. Turn signals and brake lights are good.
Losing the stock exhaust setup resulted in a significant weight reduction, and as a side effect, the passenger side rides slightly higher. I had planned on a new set of springs and shocks to help with that, but since I'm selling, I left it alone. It does not hamper driving, at all.
The wheels and tires are new. Wheels are 15" Koenig Rewinds, and the tires are Nitto 205/50/15's. The original wheels and tires are included with the sale. Those tires are relatively new, as well.
Inside, the seats have been re-upholstered (previous owner) and have no rips or tears. There's no dash cracks. It's got a new Grant 3-spoke steering wheel. Also, it has the original Clarion AM/FM stereo with separate cassette deck (respect the 80's!). It all works. as does the power antenna. The carpet is 'meh'. No tears or missing chunks, but it was sprayed black. Has new floor mats. Also, the windshield is brand spanking new. No scratches or streaks. All the glass in the car is in good shape. And the best part? The analog clock still ticks away just fine. Okay, maybe not the best part, but it's cool.
To wrap up, this is a neat little 34-year-old Japanese sports car. It's fun to drive, but make no mistake - you're not going to be thrashing people from light to light. It's a momentum car. It rarely gets driven, at least, not to the point that justifies me keeping it. I take it out once every week or two, to keep things circulating and, well, it's fun.
If you have any questions, please ask. I can't tell you if any of the previous owners smoked in it, took it thru the drive thru at McDonald's, or took their pooch to the drive-in movies with it. Legit questions welcome, but please be serious. Don't ask what the reserve is, because I won't tell you. Before bidding, understand this: THIS IS A 34-YEAR-OLD CAR. It's not perfect, and NO WARRANTY IS GIVEN OR IMPLIED. Check my feedback. It's been a while, but I have sold several vehicles on eBay. All happy campers. Oh, and before bidding - BE SERIOUS ABOUT BUYING THE CAR! If you're the winning bidder, congrats - you own it. If you're not prepared for that - DON'T BID!
A $500 non-refundable deposit is due within 48 hours of the auction close, which can be handled via PayPal, or you can overnight a certified check. The balance is due in cash or via certified check within 7 days of auction end. The car WILL NOT be delivered until funds are certified. Delivery will occur at my bank, which is in Suwanee, Georgia. I have the title in hand, ready to go.
