Car description |

This auction is for a 1994 RX-7 that is ready to drive and show! This car grabs attention, whether at the filling station, a Cars & Coffee, or at a car show. It's been upgraded with staying true to factory specs and reliability in mind, bringing it up to contemporary standards.
Engine: Rebuilt by Cam at Pettit Racing, a top expert. Less than 5000 miles. Runs like a top! Always starts, smooth idle. Running stock 11 lbs of boost, managed via the upgraded ECU (Power FC). Fuel pump upgraded to the OEM quality Denso model. Cooling capacity upgraded via Koyo radiator and Pettit Intercooler; flow improved via downpipe, Racing Beat exhaust, Greddy intake elbow, and K&N Intake. Other adds include aluminum flywheel, upgraded pulley & guides, and vacuum simplification with Banzai kit. Output is a robust 320 hp to the rear wheels.
Suspension: The amazing and expensive Ohlin coilovers installed last summer. Also added is the OEM Mazda R1 strut brace (repainted silver) as well as Banzai trans and diff braces, all greatly increasing structural rigidity. Wheels and tires also less than 5000 miles (Tracklite wheels, staggered 18x8.5 & 9.5).
Interior: Starting with the 1994 interior (Mazda vastly improved it from the 1993 model), tasteful upgrades have been made to the black and tan combo. Leather Seats have been recovered in black Italian leather (removing the old tan Mazda surfaces). Seat plastic trim has been replaced with black pieces acquired used to support the color conversion. The shift knob also has been recovered, and a new leather boot is in place for the shifter and e-brake. The factory tan carpet still in place for a great color contrast! Radio is Sony Xplod with 4 Xplod speakers.
Exterior: looks great! R1 front lip, JDM 99 spec taillights, and JDM Effini logos set off the car. Antenna conversion kit installed to adapt a fix Honda S2000 antenna. Door handles clean and unscratched, helped by an aftermarket keyless entry system. Repainted before my ownership, but I was told that it was an expensive job, and that appears to be true based upon its quality.
Other details: Air conditioning and power steering remain intact and work great. New lightweight battery. I have many of the OEM parts available if desired.
Issues: Floor mats (not pictured) could use replacement (a set of vintage style Coco mats in black & tan would look great). A few scuffs on the R1 spoiler, and light stone chips on the front nose, visible only from close inspection Power mirror switch works intermittently; needs replacement. Remote fob opens doors, but does not lock them. AM reception sketchy with short antenna (FM is fine).
All pics taken today (except engine bay). Weather is cloudy and light rain, so you will see raindrops on the car. I wiped it down before taking the photos, but rain, although light, persisted. I can get more photos on request this week if weather cooperates.
If you are looking for a poorly updated RX-7 done on the cheap with back yard mechanics and low grade parts, with a loud and smelly "beer can" exhaust, this is not your car. If your desire is to drive and show a fine vehicle based upon the timeless beauty of the original design, enhanced with a good stance, appropriate wheels and tires, and reliable quality upgrades, prepare to bid!
