1979 Maserati Merak SS Tipo AM122/A 3.0L V6 Engine 5 Speed ZF Transmission

This1979 Maserati Merak is an SS model equipped with its original 3.0-liter V6 and 5-speed manual transaxle. Finished in redover a black interior,this is one of 312 Merak SSs produced for the US market.The Maserati Merak was introduced in 1972, while the SS model entered production in 1976 and is visually distinguished by the black grille between the front headlights.Styled by Giugiaro, the body is finished in red.The car retains its original Saint Gobain Securit glass and Campagnolo cast wheels.The padded three-spoke steering wheel andfull driver-oriented dashboardand Veglia gauges areshared with the Maserati Bora.
The original 2,970cc 90-degree V6 features triple Weber DCNF 44 carburetors and had a 9:1 compression ratio in SS specification when new.The V-6 dual overhead camshaft engine offers 220 horsepower and there is a five-speed synchronized gearbox shared with the Maserati Bora.
This is a solid project. Not running. The engine turns and transmission shifts through gears. Steers, brakes and rolls. The body is complete with rust all around (all restorable) and the paint is cracked and faded. Floors are solid. Nothing bad and restorable. Frame is solid. The doors open and close. The interior is complete and restorable. Headliner and carpets are good. The center console is complete. All gauges are there. The engine bay is complete. The chrome is good. All glass is good.The wheels are in good shape. Tires are old. Clean NJ title.
