Up for auction is my 1975 Maserati Merak. I have owned this car for ten years and in that time have put a substantial amount of work into it.
She is not in showroom condition but, mechanically speaking, runs excellently. Never wrecked and has a clean title. The original engine was replaced with a newly rebuilt 3.0L Maserati engine and since has less than 1k miles on it. This engine loves to rev and provides incredible torque on any road you throw at it. The transmission was rebuilt by a local shop at the same time and shifts through all gears smoothly. The entire wiring harness was replaced in 2010. Custom flowmaster exhaust was added in 2012. The frame is in excellent shape, with no signs of corrosion. Rust was found on the rear passenger side floorboard while having the interior done recently. It was rust-treated and had a plexiglass coating applied to prevent any further spread. A new radiator was installed in 2012. The infamous LHM system is in good working order, but is due for a flush. It's got the original magnesium Campagnolo wheels, including the spare, all in good condition. The interior has been newly reconditioned and reupholstered. The brakes were serviced last month and the oil & filter were changed last week. The paint has a few nicked spots but from a few feet away looks quite clean. The A/C has been disconnected but can still be serviced if so desired.
The parts manual, owner's manual (reprinted), and service manual for this car will be included in the purchase.
I want any prospective buyer to be pleased with their purchase so I am happy to allow vehicle inspections, but this should be completed BEFORE the end of the auction.
** Payment must be made in full before the title is signed over. **
Current Issues:
The bonnet release latch was left pulled out while the door was closed which scored the inside panel of the driver's side door (pictured).
A few paint nicks.
The rear glass weather sealneeds replacing.
After having the wiring harness replaced it was difficult to get the steering column cover back in place, but I have all pieces required.
Some scoring on the underside of the body from the last time it was transported.
Speedometer does not function, I suspect a new cable is required.
Windows function intermittently.
Radio antennae switch does not function.
This car has put a smile on my face more times than I can count. Now it's your turn.
