1974 Jensen Healey - JH5 Recent Engine overhaul, paint, custom leather interior!

The Jensen-Healey was produced from 1972 through 1976 with around 10,000 examples produced. It was a two-door roadster with seating for two and designed by Donald Healey, is son Geoffery, illiam Towns and Jensen Motors. Jensen Motors had built the bodies for the wildly popular Austin-Healey 3000. When production of the 3000 ceased, new product was needed. Thus, he Jensen-Healey project. During development, any engines were fitted and tested, ut it was the Lotus 907 unit that made it into production. The Lotus engine was new and untested, ut did offer 144 horsepower from its dual overhead cam, 6-valve all-alloy setup. A four-speed manual was used. Numerous small details under the hood include viscous fan clutch on radiator fan, new upper radiator hose intake from water pump to radiator arrangement, catayltic converter and additional "improved" exhaust emmission package. The Mark II, lso known as the JH5, as introduced in August of 1973 and produced until August of 1975 with a total of 7142 vehicles produced. There is no offical VIN or month cut off for the JH5, arliest sightings are commission dates of Dec. '74. Factory build cards offer no clue to when or why JH5 models exist. These Jensen Healeys were very expensive and mechanically advanced for their time. The car is powered by an all alloy twin cam four valve Lotus 907 engine that went on to be used in the Lotus Esprit. This 907 engine is one of the first production car 4 valve engines to use a timing belt for cam operation and has potential for high power output when modified. Joe Huffaker won a national SCCA championship for Jensen Healey and reportedly easily got 250hp out of the Lotus two liter power plant.NOW lets get to what you came here to see.
