I have a three owner 1973 VW bus. It was setting in a garage with a window sticker of 1996. It was a rust free and relatively dent free sample. The engine and transmission start and run great. still all original with only 63. 30 miles! The entire brake system was rebuilt. power brake booster. master cylinder. wheel cylinders. springs brake shoes and front calipers and pads. Steering link replaced to tighten up steering was replaced. The bus was repainted an original VW bus blue and white. side and rear windows removed for paint and cleaned. re-installed with new rubber. Front window has two rock chips and will need replaced. I couldn't find one when it was repainted. The bus was originally orange and white. but all door jambs where painted blue. Only in the engine bay can you see any orange. Engine starts easy and does not smoke. does have a tiny quarter size oil leak if driven hard. The garage does not have a oily wet spot but you can see is has a small leak from a push rod seal. The Clutch is very good. and the van runs and drives straight and stops excellent. Has been a daily driver for my High schooler for 2 years. All new plastic light lens. also includes non-installed door rubber weatherstrip for the sliding door and front doors. Also have new heater cables and spare throttle cable. The interior has been redone with a custom bench seat/bed and removable table. Has an alpine stereo. led blue lighting and new blue shag carpet. Interior needs finished and some re-glueing. I have the extra material and glue for finishing. Has like new tires and is ready to have fun! It gets thumbs up and peace signs every time it is driven. I have pictures of the bus during body work so one can see there was no rust present before repainting etc. It is not perfect but does run and drive well and was well stored and not left in the elements. I have driven it up to 60 mph and it does fine. We never really tried to go any harder than that. Most driving for the past few years was in 45 mph speed limits in the city area.
