European Motor Studio is very excited to offer this very original 1977 Lotus Esprit S1 Coupe, the original origami design. Chassis number 77060348H left the Hethel Norfolk production line on July 18, 1977 and was delivered new to Ferrari Lotus of Los Gatos CA where the car would reside with its first owner in Modesto CA. The second owner purchased the car sometime in the early 1980’s and moved the car to Stockton CA where it would be remain until 1985 when the third owner bought the Esprit with 12,485 miles and moved to Campbell CA where it would remain until he moved the car to Vancouver WA in 2003 with 43,887 miles. In December of 2011, the car was sold to its fourth owner and moved to Fort Collins CO where it would remain until now. The Esprit still sits in its original Lagoon Blue finish from the factory and has not been painted or altered. The original US spec bumpers are intact and showing age and warping (replacement bumpers are available or Euro spec fiberglass bumpers are available). There are a few small hairline body cracks in the fiberglass which are pictured. All of the trim is all original and all of the glass appears to be original as well. The interior is the original mole hair and vinyl with original dark blue carpets. This is a very rare interior color option on this Esprit that has been very well preserved with no damage or shrinkage to the dash. The matching numbers 2.0 liter 4 cylinder Lotus built engine is the original unit the car was born with and comes with a thorough file of records dating back to 1985 with most service work done by Jim Loose Imports in Palo Alto CA and Spencer Motorsports in Hayward CA. Recent major engine service and tune up including the timing belt and front end bushings and bearings, new engine seals, new brakes including the rotors and rebuilt calipers and a new fuel pump. The engine starts right up and is free from any smoke under start up or acceleration. The gearbox and clutch are smooth and operate with ease without any slipping or grinding. The brakes are solid and free from any fading or grinding and the steering and suspension are nice and tight and free from any none issues. All of the electronics in the car are operating and functioning as designed including the headlights, exterior lights, interior lights, dash lights and overhead interior dome light. This is a beautiful running and driving Esprit that is in nicely preserved condition with excellent provenance and a nice documented service file. Having only covered 46,470 miles from new, this all original Esprit Series 1 is a very rare British sports car that is an excellent addition to any collector. 77060348H
