Car description

This is one for the Lincoln collector who will want a very unique Town Car in color and build.

Presenting my 1984 Lincoln Town Car. Base model; when I say basic...not one option box was checked. No cruise control, no tilt wheel, no rear defroster, non-reclining seats, not even a passenger exterior mirror! Contrary to some beliefs; it was never a rental car. In addition to my new WA title, the car came with the original California title that shows it was delivered to a private party when new; build sheet is also included and one set of original keys.

Runs and drives; but not ready for a long distance road trip yet. It would greatly behoove this Lincoln to have some new tires before it is driven any distance at all as well as an alignment. But if you look at the spare it’s like it’s never seen the ground. Has a new distributor cap and rotor, new spark plugs and wires, a new air filter, and a new PCV valve within the last couple weeks. A new Motorcraft fuel filter was also installed at the time of tune up and has only had 92 octane put in. Trans shifts as it should. However, it is cold blooded; like how a carburetor-equippedvehicle will act until it’s been warmed up.

Body is in amazing shape; from what I can tell it has never been painted on or repaired. There is a series of tiny dents on the left rear door, and one scrape in the quarter panel as pictured. These were present at the time of my acquisition from the older gentleman I bought it from - the usual garage blunders. No signs of any rust bubbles anywhere on it. Top is incredible; no dry rot, cracking, or peeling. All lenses are in great shape; and no cracked glass. Windshield is even original. No signs of rotting underneath either.

Interior has normal wear and tear though it needs a deep cleaning; but isn’t a victim of most normal issues the ‘80-‘89 Lincolns are prone to. No peeling glove box door, no cracked door armrest (not even the driver's!) but it does have the cracked dash with a dash mat in place. Picture shows dash condition for disclosure. Headliner needs replacement; previous owner stapled the sagging headliner back in place. No tears in seats or carpet. Passenger front door panel flops a bit; set of panel clips included.

Accessories - power locks are in perfect order; actuators are extremely fast. Power windows; passenger front works like new. On the other three doors; the motors spin but do not engage the window. Three brand new window motors for those are included in the sale and will be in the trunk. Power seat works; occasionally needs a whack on the motor for the rear tilt function to engage - but this hasn’t bothered me as I’ve only moved the seat twice. Stereo is a brand new Pioneer CD with Pioneer front speakers since the factory ones disintegrated and Kenwood 6x9s are in rear (better bass response).

Climate controls function great for heat and ventilation in all positions; but the AC currently does not work as the previous owner snipped the wire to the compressor *HOWEVER* the compressor has been tested and works when it’s supplied power; I wonder if it’s just low on R12. It was never converted to R134 so there is still R12 in the system.

Every exterior and interior light bulb works; most have been replaced with brand new bulbs as I am very OCD about lights working on my cars.

Included in the sale is also a set of NOS factory door edge guards, a 5th OEM wheel cover (as a spare), and a few extra switches and bits from the wrecking yard. These cars are also known for the glove box latch breaking - this one has been replaced, and there is also a functioning spare as well as the original tumbler that goes with the car but I was not able to get it to a locksmith to have the tumblers switched over.

I have honestly put about 300 miles in my ownership with it. With my work life and family life, I only get an hour or two a week to spend with the car, if that, which is why the few fixes it needs have not been done. I simply don’t have the time to work on it I thought I would and I don’t want to pay extra for things to be done that I can do plus I am paying a lot in storage so it’s sadly just not worth keeping a hobby car right now.

All in all; I am selling it 100% as-is, no warranty of any kind expressed or implied, and I have been as honest as I can in this ad. I will also not make any statement regarding DEQ or emissions as they are not required in WA where I live so I’ve never had it tested. Odometer shows 92k -it is a 5 digit odometer so I am not sure if it is 92k or 192k; but given the overall condition I would guess 92k. This will be a great car for the enthusiast who can give it more love than I have the time to. My lady and I love it but it just doesn’t fit into our lives at this point. Clean and clear WA title in hand.
