THIS BEAUTIFUL 1966 LINCOLN CONTINENTAL IS NOW RELUCTANTLY BEING MADE AVAILABLE FOR THE 1ST TIME TO VERY LUCKY EBAY BIDDERS.
THIS LINCOLN WAS MANUFACTURED IN AN ERA WHEN LUXURY CARS WERE BUILT TO STANDARDS FAR ABOVE THE AVERAGE AUTOMOBILE AND OWNING A LINCOLN CONTINENTAL REALLY MEANT SOMETHING SIGNIFICANT. THIS WAS A VEHICLE FOR THE MOST DISCERNING SUCCESSFUL INDIVIDUALS AND WAS ONE OF THE BEST AND MOST EXPENSIVE VEHICLES OF IT’S TIME. IT COMBINED A FABULOUS RIDE WITH THE APPOINTMENTS OF THE FINEST LUXURY CARS.
THIS CONTINENTAL CONVERTIBLE LEFT THE FACTORY WITH ITS 462 CID 4V V-8 ENGINE THAT PRODUCED 340 HP @ 4600 RPM AND 485 LB FT OF TORQUE @ 2800 RPM, AIR CONDITIONING, POWER STEERING, POWER SEAT, POWER ASSISTED DISC & DRUM BRAKES, POWER WINDOWS AND POWER TOP WITH GLASS REAR WINDOW.
THE 1966 LINCOLN CONTINENTAL
The 1966 Lincoln Continental was all-new, but unmistakably Continental. Despite the new styling, the award-winning Lincoln look that was introduced in 1961 was carefully respected. One look and you knew it was brand new, but you also instantly knew it was unmistakably a Lincoln.
Sales increased over 1965, as you would expect with new styling. In the luxury car market, there was something to be said for exclusivity, and Lincoln could certainly make a case for that in comparison to Cadillac. It's difficult to feel special when a car just like yours pulls up next to you at the intersection, or parks next to you at the club or restaurant. Lincolns weren’t that common back then, but Lincoln's popularity would continue to grow as the years passed, and Lincoln would eventually become a true concern for Cadillac, especially when Lincoln models began to outsell the comparable Cadillac model.
In addition to styling, most Lincoln enthusiasts recognized that the Lincoln just had a much better ride. Lincoln had a lot of new things to offer as well. A powerful 462 CID 4V V-8 engine was installed under the hood, developing 340 horsepower. A new integral AM Radio with StereoSonic Tape System played pre-recorded tapes through 4 high fidelity speakers. True stereo separation was achieved with separate front-rear and side-to-side balance controls. The unit was located in the instrument panel.
Convertibles got a new glass rear window for 1966, which was a fixed part of the top and automatically folded into place when the top was lowered. This was a huge improvement over the earlier vinyl rear windows. The convertible top itself was custom hand trimmed at the factory, and offered in three color choices: black, white, or blue, each coordinated with interior upholstery colors. An Outside Deck Lid Release Switch was mounted to the rear of the fuel filler door, and could be operated by a key to open or close the deck lid without the need to get inside the car.
1966 would be the first time since 1961 that Lincoln offered more than two models. It would return to a two model line up briefly in 1968, as the convertible would be discontinued after 1967 production ended. Unique features introduced on the 1966 Lincoln include a press on/press off combination map and courtesy light on the instrument panel just to the left of the ignition. It illuminated when any door was opened, and could be manually turned on when necessary by pressing in on the lens. The Phototube Unit of the Automatic Headlamp Dimmer was cleverly concealed in the forward edge of the left front fender, eliminating the unit mounted atop the instrument panel previously. This location provided a better view of the road ahead, which allowed the photocell to better sense oncoming traffic.
The 1966 Lincoln Continentals were fresh, powerful, quiet, and smooth. Which is everything a luxury car buyer could have possibly wanted in 1966, and they are still very popular among Lincoln enthusiasts and collectors today.

Vehicle Condition:
THIS 1966 LINCOLN CONTINENTAL IS IN EXCELLENT MECHANICAL AND BEAUTIFUL OVERALL COSMETIC CONDITION!
This 1966 Lincoln is 52 years old, so some signs of age are to be expected! While substantial restoration to the tune of $15,000 has been done and its appearance is beautiful, this is not a concours vehicle. It is a combination of original survivor and well restored components. Nearly everything appears to be in excellent condition. However, there are a few small things that need to be mentioned. The steering wheel has the usual separations from heat shrinkage. The paint is in excellent condition and there are no nicks, dings or scratches. The passenger side rocker panel trim is screwed on. There are some small indentations in the rocker panel trim. The drop down armrests are the original leather and were not recovered when the seats were reupholstered. The rubber weather-stripping is original and does show its age. The original factory air conditioning is all there but is not currently working. No attempt has been made to repair it. As is common in a car of this age, the radio, clock and power antenna are not working. I am not sure if thefuel gauge is working properly. It reads empty when the key is off and full when on.The inside headliner of the convertible top does show some age. The two rear mufflers have some holes and should eventually be replaced. While there are very few miles on the tires, they are 12 years old and showing age and must be replaced. Lastly, there is a wear spot in the carpet behind the passenger side of the front seat. These are all minor imperfections.
The odometer reading listed above is believed to represent the total original mileage.
ALL THE MAJOR ASPECTS OF THIS LINCOLN CONTINENTAL ARE EXCELLENT. HERE’S A LIST:
NEW BATTERY
NEW DASH PAD
NEW UPHOLSTERY
NEW DOOR PANELS
NEW EXCELLENT BRAKES
NEW EXCELLENT CHROME
RUST-FREE UNDERCARRIAGE

EVERYTHING CONSIDERED, THIS IS AN EXCEPTIONAL AND BEAUTIFUL1966 LINCOLN CONTINENTAL!
