Car description |
---|
Purchased new in California in 1984, this car has been owned by one family since! In 2009, the original owners sold it to their nephew, a young doctor and serious autombobile enthusiast in Fargo, North Dakota. Since that time, the car has had near-fanatical care including a new timing belt, regular fuel filter changes, transmission fluid and filter change, a new fuel pump, new tie rod ends and steering components, new alternator and belt, new front air-struts and rear shocks, new starter, and glow plug relay.
0n August 1, 2015, Doc took the car for a drive into Minnesota lakes country. On the way back to Fargo, the water pump failed, the car overheated and the result, as diagnosed by Midland Diesel in Fargo, was a cracked cylinder head. The car has been in storage since and Doc has decided to cut his losses on this old family favorite and let it go. (The head was removed by Midland Diesel in the process of diagnosing the problem with the car. All of the parts are included and the engine was properly coated with light grease to prevent rust from forming and damage to the engine.)
As a California car, the car is completely rust free. The body is straight, the paint very presentable, and it has only a shallow dent toward the rear end of the passenger door and a small dent in the trunk lid. There are a handful of scratches commensurate with age, but the car really is in remarkable condition. The interior is very presentable with only the drivers seat showing significant wear.
As only 600 of these cars were sold to the public with the BMW Turbo Diesel option, this is a highly sought-after collector car. It is a very comfortable, mid-sized coupe that handles very well, rides great and gets an honest 30+ mpg! With a couple thousand dollars in repairs, a coat of wax, and a new set of tires, you'll have a very, very cool classic car for very little money!
