History:
I purchased this car in the Spring of 2003. At that time, it had 39,000 actual miles on it. It ran well, and it looked good, but it had it's share of cosmetic issues, and a few mechanical ones, but nothing serious. There was absolutely no rust on the car, but there were a number of dings and scratches along the sides of the car. Additionally, it was evident that there had been repair and repaint on both sides where the vinyl roof meets the rear quarter panel below the opera window.
Mechanically, it needed a full and complete tune up, as well as new exhaust, and there was a slight exhaust manifold leak on the right side. These were all repaired, and the car runs like a dream.
The car spent the better part of three years ata professional body shop. During that time, the following occurred:
-Removal of any and all trim/chrome/emblems.
-Removal of vinyl roof and vinyl on rear deck.
-Complete strip of paint to bare metal.
-Removal and re chrome of both bumpers.
-Complete primer and base coat clear coat in Diamond Jubilee Gold - factory specs.
-Install of new vinyl on roof and deck - factory specs.
-Hand painted pin stripes - to factory specifications.
When I purchased the car, it did not have the following:
-Gold tone acrylic encased Diamond Jubilee hood ornament - installed one NOS - Perfect condition.
-Original leather bound Owner's Manual - found one on line - Perfect condition.
-Diamond Jubilee Umbrella - purchased NOS Knirps on line - Perfect condition.
-Factory demo quad 8 track tape (2)- purchased - works flawlessly.
-8 track dividers in console - purchased and installed (several extras included)
-Diamond Jubilee Gold leather bound tool kit - purchased - complete and includes all tools and tie laces - second partial included.
Also added/replaced the following items:
-Original Sales Brochure - Perfect condition.
-Two different dealership three ring binders. Include articles, specs, option specs, color, vinyl and fabric samples for the entire Mark V Designer offering.
-Factory CB radio including hand set and power unit - not installed.
-Extra Diamond Jubilee hood ornament - complete, but only in fair condition.
-Original wood grain keys (two sets).
-Gold Lincoln key chain.
-Chrome dual exhaust tips.
-New "Miles To Empty" gauge.
-New Auto Lamp/Auto Dim switch.
Current issues:
-Body side door moldings are fine, but wheel opening moldings are dinged or scratched.
-Seats and upholstery are in great shape, but are faded - top of rear seat has been repaired above the embroidery, and was beautifully done.
-Upholstery piping on upper portions of front seats is thin and worn in spots.
-Front lap belts are there and work fine, but the shoulder strap portions were cut off, but are retracted in the cases on the ceiling.
-Speedometer, odometer, and trip odometer work fine, but the clock does not. Extra clock included.
-Door window glass with some vertical scratches due to operation.
Miscellaneous:
-Engine is 460, very smooth and strong.
-Transmission is smooth and shifts perfectly.
-All options (auto lamp/dim, radio, 8-Track, windows (including vent window option), door locks, air conditioning, seat belt warning light, door ajar light, warning lights, opera windows and ceiling reading lamps, dome light, door lights, exterior roof coach lamps, glove box trunk release, heat, rear defrost/defog, both power seats, exterior cornering lamps, power antenna, headlamp doors, hazard lights, center console switches/doors/lights, wipers - wash and delay) work as they are designed and intended.
This is a very nice car. It runs and drives beautifully, and has been very lovingly restored and cared for. I was told I am the third owner of the car. It was to have originated in the State of Louisiana, and then was in the State of Tennessee before I purchased it.
It currently has 50,400 miles on it, the tires have 3,500 miles on them, and it has never seen rain or snow since I've owned the car. I was told it was never in snow or salt prior to my ownership as well.
