California car from new and still wears its' original CA black plates (not YOM). It has been enthusiast owned (I bought it in 2006) and used regularly. This is a great. unmolested truck that I have driven all over California. It starts easily (hot or cold). runs. drives. steers and stops well. It never overheats. even in Death Valley. I have the title in my name and it is currently registered (titled as a 1965). Only selling because my 109 is a better fit for my family. Compare this truck to the rusty UK imports usually found on eBay with painted galvanizing. chequer plate. and Rhino-lined interiors. Selling with no reserve so don't procrastinate or it'll be gone. Some highlights and features: •One older repaint in the original Poppy Red. There was body damage on the left rear quarter that was repaired with filler prior to the repaint. The filler has cracked as you can see in the photos. The rest of the truck is straight with only minor dings. dents and scratches. There is some paint bubbling due to aluminum oxidation along the bottoms of the door skins and the passenger window. The red paint will rub out even better if you care to put in the effort. •Rust free frame. bulkhead. and radiator support with no signs of repair. Frame has surface rust and an undercoating that is coming off in places. I have made no attempt to detail or tidy up the frame. so you do see surface rust in the footwells and frame. Swivel balls have excellent chrome. •Good running 2. 25L petrol engine with 2. 5L camshaft. Weber DGV carburetor on a Pierce intake manifold. breathing through the original oil bath filter. Engine has Pertronix electronic ignition. Delco 10SI alternator. spin-on oil filter. and a Hi-Torqe (USA made) gear reduction starter. Engine burns no oil and does not smoke. •Power brake conversion using series III parts and a dual circuit master cylinder. The wing was cut and rolled as Rover did. New ball joints. •Fully functional Kodiak Mk. IV heater•New (installed 2015) Global Roamer "Roverdrive" overdrive using old style Fairey OD linkage. Also has a Rocky Mountain finned aluminum transfer case cover. •2A gearbox rebuilt by Jim "Scotty" Howat•Dual fuel tanks with military changeover valve•Class III towing receiver incorporating original tow jaw•Trailer wiring (flat four style)•New Badger Coachworks headliner•Full length galvanized roof rack and rear ladder. made by Brownchurch of London•Original Rover series III front seat cushions with sliding (adjustable) bases•Jeep TJ "fold and tumble" rear seat. can be installed in two locations fore-aft•4x three point seat belts (fronts are genuine. rears are Securon)•Nearly complete original elephant hide interior trim panels•Original front floor mats and complete Hardura transmission tunnel trims•OME shocks and British springs•Deluxe dished bonnet with spare tire mount and locking hasp•Two full size spares•Genuine Land Rover work lamp on rear•All correct (glass in front. L691/L692 in rear) lamps. even has the original Lucas Reflex reflectors!•Spare tire holder behind front seats•Factory hand throttle/speed control•Tropical roof in good condition with operational ventilators and no dents on ventilator domes•Optima battery•Rare genuine Rover sun visors•Factory rear step•All three doors are original and have no rust or rotted out frames•Door mounted mirrors using factory hinges with mirror mounts (puts mirrors where they are actually usable)•Comes with factory Shelley Jack. jack handle and extension. and starter handle•Unmolested wiring harness•Individual Lucas wipers both work•All gauges work correctly. all lights work (interior and exterior). horn works•Smiths voltmeter and tachometer added using a Rover panel to mount them•Original keys and locks/ignition Issues I would fix soon: •The BF Goodrich tires have lots of tread left but they are old and should be replaced soon. Other issues worth noting but not pressing: •This truck has the usual minor drips and leaks. •The white paint on the tropical roof double skin is flaking off. •Most of the rubber door. hardtop. and window seals and window tracks are old and brittle•The Weber DGV has hesitation until fully warmed up. This is a common complaint with the Weber but I lived with it because I liked the combination of power and economy. The Land Rover is in San Jose. CA where it can be viewed and driven.
