Each Tithonus was individually selected and extensively refurbished by the MoD in 2007-2008 as part of the British Army LEP (life extension program). The project was to extend the overall service life of the land Land Rovers by 10 years to 20-30 years. The Tithonus features a reliable, naturally aspirated 2.5L NAD Diesel, LT77 5 speed (manual) gear forward and one reverse gearbox, Hi/Low transfer box, heavy duty 16 Wolf Wheels, removable hard top, fully integrated Wolf roll cage including front external & rear internal hoop system, full-size spare tire, Michelin XZL 4x4 tires NATO hitch, 12v electrics w/additional 24v 90 amp, heavy duty chassis, all coil suspension, full-time 4WD with locking center diff, front disc brakes, heavy-duty chassis, and aluminum chequer plating on the sills and bonnet. It does not have power steering; however, it is surprisingly easy to drive. Intriguingly, the Tithonus also retained its 'convoy lights', small, chassis-mounted directional lamps that shine on the white-painted rear differential, for safe headlights-out convoying. Under the Tithonus program the interior received upgraded bucket seats from Exmoor upholstered in Outlast fabric, and heavy rubber soundproof matting front and rear. Bucket front seats with headrests and a double fold-down rear bench seats are all very durable, and comfortable. The newly added matching gray center console with cup holders helps store your belongings and adds convenience. The Tithonus has also gotten a respray that really makes it pop! The body of the Tithonus has been sprayed with green Rhino truck bed liner that greatly improves the durability of the paint. It'll handle anything you throw at it! The hard-top has NOT received the truck bed liner but rather has been just resprayed with the upper portion sporting a clean white top.
