An incredibly interesting, well sorted, and well executed build that is a blend of classic and neo-classic Rover. What you see when you view this Rover is a Defender Series 2A 109 Wagon, what you drive is a Range Rover Classic LWB. A great deal of care and engineering went into building the vehicle. The body is a 1964 Series 2A Station Wagon. The 109 started as a rust free well preserved, left hand drive example and was deframed and completely restored before being mated to the chassis of a later Range Rover Classic. Modern upgrades include a ZF 4spd automatic gearbox, LT 230 transfer case with permanent AWD, and 4-wheel disc brakes among other additions. Power comes from a refurbished and freshened 4.2 litre Rover V8 engine from a donor Range Rover. Interior is all new with replacement seats, headliner, carpets, steering wheel, dash and door cards. Insturmentation is original 109 adding to the character of driving a classic vehicle that is not so classic. All body work from the firewall forward was custom tailored to fit around the longer 4.2 litre powerplant and Range Rover Running Gear. Additional custom sheetmetal includes a "safari roof" that is designed for generous airflow into the passenger cabin without allowing the elements inside. The Sorting of any custom Rover after a build as extensive as this is in most cases the part that induces someone to pull one's hair out, but rest assured a great deal of time and energy was taken to get everything sorted and make this Defender capable of daily driver status. All maintenance and servicing was performed by J&G Automotive, a local classic Rover shop that has taken on legendary status inside the local Rover community. This Rover is well documented with extensive records, and wear items are all as new (tires, brakes, etc). Our site posts content to many other sites all over the world.
