[FlipperToolsVideo]Hello and Thank You for viewing this listing for a 1977 Land Rover Series III. This Rover has had a nice restoration about 7 years ago and had nearly every exterior and interior surface refinished. Not long after, I was approached to have it featured in a magazine shoot at Lion Country Safari (pictured).
Exterior: The exterior has been refinished in Dark blue with a Kalahari Beige Roof. The wheels have been painted Kalahari Beige to match. The finish looks very nice. The bumpers were finished in black.I always likes those bumpers. They look very NATO with all the hitches and footholds. It has an Ex-Ministry of Defense front plate, but i cannot attest to the validity if that claim.Glass looks great all the way around. The tires have plenty of tread left, but are a bit dry. There are a few nicks and things as to be expected, but as you can see in the pictures it blows away the others out there.
Interior: Nearly every surface of the interior has been replaced. The seats were re-upholstered in black vinyl with white stitching in between the pleats. This was a very nice touch considering the basic nature of the originals. The front carpet was replaced inter panels were fabricated and covered. and the rear cargo area was fitted with diamond plate. New shifter boots were installed. The headliner was also done in black with stainless accents. All 3 door panels were fabricated and covered in vinyl.Note: The gauge surround for the volt meter is crooked and the glass over the clock is cracked (hand slipped off the shifter).A Defender style locking center console has been added.
Engine/Powertrain: As you can see from the pictures, the engine bay looks great. All of the plugs and wires are new. The block itself looks fantastic. All rubber is very healthy. There’s nothing out of place or in need of attention. This is a radical departure from the rusty, dusty artifact under the hoods of most of these vehicles.
Service: I just went throught the entire truck to the tune of about $4k so the new owner needs to do absolutely nothing but turn the key and enjoy their New"ish" Series 3. The entire braking system was completely gone through including new pads, cylinders, springs, lines and master cylinder. There are also brand new shocks, suspension bumpers, all of the differential fluids were replaced, the coolant system was flushed, the carb was rebuilt, all the door seals and gaskets were replaced as well as the window gaskets, the pedal pads are new, and the oil was just changed. Yes there are very various drips in various places. It’s a classic Rover -If it’s not leaking, it’s empty ;)
The Drive: Turn the key and she roars to life, followed by a smooth idle. Put the shifter in gear and off you go. As you know these vehicles are geared very low and perform well around town. It easily handles freeway jaunts up to about 50mph. It's loads of fun and a real head turner.
And that's about it. I'm probably forgetting a few things, but you get the point. It has been an adventure every step of the way and I am sad to see it go, but it's time to move on and let someone else enjoy it as much as I have.
