Available is my restored/upgraded 1981 Land Rover 109. There has been a lot of money, time, and effort invested in this 109 (review the photos). You'll be hard pressed tofind abettersorted, better equipped, or better documented Rover for the money. I'll highlight the main points below, and there are further restoration photos available (More photoslocatedbelow description).
I do have a clean Oregon title in my name, a large stack of receipts/documentation, and a factory Rover service manual.
Drive train:
Original 3.5L all Aluminum motor fully rebuilt.
Upgraded with Crower stage 1 Cam, Electronic ignition, balanced.
Motor runs very smooth, and lots of power.
LT-95 Transmission shifts great & resealed.
Transfer case fully rebuilt with new bearings, thrust washers, center differential bearings, and new intermediate shaft (expensive).
New OEM clutch kit, and resurfaced flywheel.
Note, do your research on the LT95. It is regarded as the strongest, most reliable tranny Rover ever produced (Used in most military spec. Rovers)
Rare Fairey overdrive unit, allows for comfortable cruising at 65+ MPH. Works well, and engages smoothly.
Rare Salisbury full floating (Dana 60) rear axle, with Power-Lock Limited Slip (Great traction, and strongest differential made by Rover)
Power steering conversion (Heystee Bolt on system). Do your research, this is highest end/most expensive power steering system you can buy for the Series Rover.
Front axle resealed, new bearings
Complete new cooling system.
Suspension:
New parabolic soft ride leaf springs (very smooth). These do provide a small 2" lift.
New shocks
All new Tie Rods
New Leaf spring bushing front & rear
Brand new wheels, and new Falken AT3 All Terrain tires.
Interior:
As you can see from the photos the interior was restored to a high level, and finished in far nicer materials than factory. Over 5K spent on upholstery work alone.
I had a custom canvas top built for this rover, and it is much higher quality than aftermarket canvas kits. It is included, and is installs easily.
I had a custom sleeping platform fabricated for this rover. It is well designed, and is very easy to install/remove. The mattress was upholstered in matching material. This is a very comfortable camping setup, and sure beats a tent.
New headliner in both the hard top wagon configuration, and new headliner for truck cab configuration as well.
Fuel system:
New Dual fuel Tanks installed.
New OEM fuel pump
New fuel lines
New Sending units (both tanks)
Carbs rebuilt
Electrical:
Unlike most rovers, the wiring here is unmolested, very clean, and everything functions correctly. There are no splices, bad connections, or brittle wiring.
This is not to be overlooked when purchasing a Rover. Hacked, corroded, modified wiring is a real pain on these older Rovers. Again, this is a well sorted 109 that can be driven daily without issue
New stereo, and speakers installed. Works well, and has USB charge ports.
New Battery
New high end recessed LED lighting front & rear of roof rack.
Body:
Rust/corrosion free.
Painted with PPG urethane in factory color
Roof/upper sides finished in urethane bed liner material for durability.
New sliding windows retrofitted in rear (110 rover model). Expensive
All glass was removed before paint.
Look at the bulkhead photos. This is a problem area on these. Mine is solid. It has been stripped, epoxy primed, and painted inside & out. Do not buy a classic Rover without bulkhead documentation/inspection. This is one of the more considerably expensive repair areas, many are rusted.
Custom roof rack fabricated, low profile, integrated lighting. Comes with Ax/Shovel& mount system (lockable).
New Rover's North rear ladder, makes roof access much easier.
Pickup truck configuration included. It is easy to install (these are rare parts, nice option to have)
In summary this rover is turnkey, runs/drives as good as it looks, and receives a lot attention. I've owned it for over two years, never has let me down.
If interested feel free to call me at 503-369-0459. Test drives are welcome, and third party mechanical inspections are welcome as well.
I will work with auto transporters of your choice. I can also deliver the car to the PDX (Portland Oregon) airport if you want to drive home.
