Selling my 1987 Land Rover Defender 110Real vin number is : SALLDHMB8BA294108(EBAY Doesnt read foriegn vin numbers)
left hand drive (normal usa spec)
everything 100% original
4x4
4door
removable roof
2.5 liter turbo diesel engine just had head polished and head gasket done plus fuel injectors replaced. (have receipts of all work done).
super low miles 80,000 (128000 km on the odometer)
Second owner
Was a university research vehicle for the University of Palermo in Sicily until I bought it with my brother, we kept it and used it in Italy for a year then we shipped to the US and have had it here for 2 years.
Have all the documents and history including copies of all the Italian documents.
Now we never use it and I got a Toyota HJ61 I'm working on.
These are getting harder and harder to find (even in Europe) especially the left-hand drive ones.
It currently has a clean New Jersey title and Plates. It would be easier if purchased by someone who is not a resident in California (where the car is now located). Getting California plates is a bit annoying so I never did it. I can help out if needed though. Also if you want tocatch a flight to LAX to check it out in person, I can come pick you up at the Airport as I live 30 minutes away.
The good:
Diesel
Good Condition considering the age
Interior in good condition
seats 9
Just had a bunch of engine work and tune up(have receipts) so should be good to go for a while.
Super low miles 80,000 (128000 km on odometer)
Solid Frame and underbody
All original
Starts and runs well
Good MPG
Left Hand Drive
Awesome base for an easy restoration
If you get Cali plates will be smog exempt for life (that opens a lot of possibilities for engine swaps)
The not so good:
Paint is peeling in some spots.
Front passenger and driver doors have rust at the bottom and would need work if trying to restore but you cant tell unless you look.
A bit slow since its a diesel and has a pretty small engine compared to the cars we drive here.
Some typical minor surface rust in some spots but I would say much less than other cars of this year, nothing compromising except under the front doors like mentioned before.Other than that no major issues.
In the end, it is in good condition for its age and would be a great candidate to be turned into one of those defenders that go for 80 to 150k without too much work.
Or you can just drive it around as is and still have a badass Defender with character.
