I bought this truck while stationed in Italy. It is, and has always been, a true left hand drive truck. I am selling it because it is a third vehicle and I do not have the time or money to do what I want with this truck. As a military family there is also a transfer in our near future and moving vehicles poses a challenge.
The frame and body on this truck are among the best I have seen. I looked extensively throughout Italy for a Defender with a good body and frame and was happy when I found this one. There are minor surface blemishes as expected with the age but there is no rot to the body, frame or other components.
The truck runs and drives as it should. The transfer case is strong and shifts right. The transmission runs through all gears fine. The engine runs good but there is an oil leak that should be fixed.
This is a 31 year old truck with a tractor engine. Do not buy this truck if you are looking for a highway rig. If I kept it, there would be an LS engine in its future. As I said though, I do not have the money for this right now. So, whether you want a complete and correct truck to keep original or a solid truck to modify you are looking at the right one.
I absolutely love driving this truck! Out of all the vehicles I have had this is one of my favorites. Every time I drive it, I get a huge grin like a school kid. There will be one of these in my life again.

Q. How is the bulkhead (this is a common point of major concern in these trucks)?
A. The bulkhead is in great shape. I searched extensively for a truck with a strong frame, no rot, good outriggers, a complete and solid bulkhead, and a good body to frame union. This was my primary concern when buying this 110.
Q. How are the door bottoms (this is also a major point of concern)?
A. The doors are complete and solid. All steel is good, they open and close as they should and all windows roll up and down correctly. The locking mechanisms are a bit finnicky and the window channels and felt could stand to be replaced. The back windows also slide open and closed, but they too could stand to have the channels rebuilt. The rear door mechanism can be a pain to open sometimes, so a rebuild of that may also be in order. It does open and close fine, it's just hard to work the mechanism sometimes.
Q. How is the wiring?
A. The wiring is in great shape. I had an Auto Sparks (if you don't know them - check them out, they are the leader in top quality wiring harness for British vehicles) harness installed by a Land Rover certified shop in Italy. While they were doing it I also had all new lamps and signals installed. Most switches on the dash were also replaced with NOS pieces.
Q. Could you tell me more about the oil leak?
A. The leak developed after the most recent oil change. I have spent very little time investigating it, but believe it is either the oil pan gasket or the main seal. Either way I would not drive the truck far without fixing it. The truck does run and drive fine and this [agricultural] engine is very easy to work on. The engine can be yanked in under an hour by anyone with passing mechanical knowledge. This is really one of the best things about these trucks, they were designed so that any farmer could work on them in the field with minimal tools.
I also have some spare parts that will go with the sale. These include a MPH speedometer, a steel binnacle by Raptor Engineering, and several gaskets and other items. I will keep a few bits for hanging on the wall and enjoying the memories.
