This is my project Land Rover up for sale. It is an unrestored 1988 RHD model that has the sought after 200 tdi, so interstate speeds are no sweat and gas mileage is outstanding. I originally bought this with intentions of doing a slow rolling restoration in my spare time. Unfortunately, military move requirements have located me to a house that cannot support more than 3 vehicles, and forbids auto repair on the property. I don't want to pay to store off site, hence my reluctant sale.
This Rover was imported last year from the U.K. It has 9 years of recent MOT road history. It is a solid truck and will make a great daily driver as is. It is not cosmetically great, but is mechanically strong. Also, a great candidate for a restoration, overlander, adventure mobile, etc. It has your normal Defender rust with a vehicle this age, but overall, very straight. It will eventually need a new driver's footwell and both side door/rocker sills due to rust. Not necessary, but needs to be addressed at some point. The doors themselves were replaced with push button versions with only small areas of corrosion under some of them. The underbody has been coated. Paint and body is in good shape. The paint job that was done on it is not the best in the world but still shines (see pics). There are no dents, just a few small dings here and there. All lights and electronics work, including the radio and dash clock. The the heater core/matrix has a coolant leak. It will likely need to be replaced to solve the problem, but I have bypassed it because I was planning to do a left hand drive conversion, which requires a new heater box anyways. Bypassing it means there is no leak, and you can run it like that indefinitely, but it will need to be addressed in order to utilize the heater. These issues have been calculated into the price, which is why this is not a $40-60k listing.
She needs some TLC as do most Defender imports, but needs nothing to drive it away today. I recently drove it nonstop for 7 hours without a single issue. I do not hesitate to take this rig anywhere and drive it regularly. It starts instantaneously the first time, every time. Comes with a full set of keys, service manual, original 1988 owners manual, and clear title, in hand. I will also throw in a brand new set of 5 wheels (black steel pro comps), spare tire cover, as well as an engine service kit, as it is time for an oil change. Air filter was changed this past week. This truck is titled and registered in the state of Florida, so you don't have to worry about any of the Customs/importing, EPA hassles. Physically located in San Antonio, TX. (I am a Florida resident but stationed in Texas right now.)
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me. I am not a Defender expert, so my knowledge is somewhat limited, but I will answer to the best of my ability. If possible, you are welcome to come take a look and inspect prior to purchasing. I have done the best to describe this vehicle the best I can, but please realize you are purchasing a 29+ year old vehicle and is in as-is condition. Asking price is 26,450, but feel free to make a REASONABLE offer. If the auction ends early, it means I have decided to keep it and sold one of my other vehicles instead.
$500 non-refundable deposit is required via paypal within 24 hours of auction close. I will coordinate you on pick up/shipping arrangements but any shipping is buyer responsibility and will only be released once full payment has cleared. I have been an eBay member for well over a decade and have 100% feedback, so bid with confidence and don't miss your chance to own this icon!On Aug-22-17 at 22:03:25 PDT, seller added the following information:
