Car description |
---|
Before I start describing the vehicle, I would like to explain my imperfect feedback. I was a car dealer a little while ago and the negative feedback received was due to a dispute over a dealer processing fee that I was charging. The processing fee was clearly disclosed in the listing but the buyer chose to not read it or pretend he didn't see it and then proceeded to argue over the fee after the auction. The fee was part of my revenue on some very low value cars I was selling so I could not waive it as it was legal and clearly disclosed. I cancelled the sale, he never paid for the car but left me negative feedback and ebay always sides with buyers on feedback issues, no matter the circumstances. No fees on this auction obviously as it's a private sale.
This 1984 Land Rover 90 LHD County was imported from Italy and has a clear Virginia title, all customs clearance documents available. The VIN is SALLDVBC8AA258973. The early Land Rovers typically do not have power steering but this one has had it added at some point and it works fine.It has a straight body, just a couple of dings in one of the wing skins (fenders). Paint is 90% original with a few touch ups though it's faded, scratched etc with chips and nicks. Wheel arches have been painted black. It does have the original manual and jack, I believe it be the County spec as it has a full headliner which is dirty but should clean up. I cleaned it in one spot and it came out ok. Heater blower motor works fine.
No rust issue aside from a little in footwells, passenger footwell has some pitting but still solid and driver's footwell does show signs of some filler. Has a few spots of aluminum contact corrosion on door skins as almost all old unrestored Land Rovers do. Door bottoms are all good. Chassis has some surface rust but is all solid metal as most frames are on Italian rovers . I cleaned off a little surface rust and painted those spots black but left most of it, don't want to make it look covered up.
Runs and drives fine, engine is strong as it's the very reliable 2.5 NA diesel which have a reputation for longevity. Driver's side window regulator does not work and a new one is on order, will be provided to the buyer if it doesn't arrive by the time the auction ends or I will install it if it does arrive. It's being shipped by TNT express and they have been victims of a cyber attack so thousand of people around the world are waiting for their shipments. I also had some parts coming from the UK and they are delayed, but the regulator is under 40 dollars and if it doesn't arrive I will just give the buyer credit for it.
It has 383000 kms or 239375 miles. Cosmetically it shows it's age but with a respray and a little footwell repair, (seats are original so they have some wear too. Center seat has a tear across the top which is patched, retrim kits are about 60 pounds per seat) it could look quite nice. Overall it's a great base for a restoration or drive as is with servicing and maintenance. No reserve and AS IS sale, no warranty. I can ship the car anywhere at cost.
Some people ask if they can drive an old vehicle like this 500, 1000 or 2000 miles after they win the auction. I cannot answer such questions, it runs and drives fine for a vehicle it's age but I have not put enough mileage or know enough about the maintenance history to make such predictions. I test them on short drives to be able to describe them for sale and cannot predict whether it will make it to California the way it is. I wouldn't predict that even if I had been driving it for a year given that these are old vehicles and in unrestored condition. So if someone wants to drive it home, I do not assume any liability. Please have funding in place prior to bidding.Thank you for looking at my listing.
