1979 Land Rover Series III 109 Dutch Army surplus name of "Gerta."The VIN is LBCAG2AA100118. The odometer reads 17,502 kilometers, hough clearly at least 100k needs to be added, s it is of 1979 manufacture.A 4 cylinder 2.25 diesel engine with a 4 speed manual transmission propels her. There is a lever on the bulkhead of the drivers seat that operates an electric overdrive, hough I have not been brave enough to engage the warp (over) drive. So, t may or may not work. Spedometer and odometer function, emperature gauges do not.I have had all the shocks (Proline) replaced, nstalled 2 new batteries (she is 24 volt) and had the steering serviced by a local independent Land Rover specialist. I have also replaced the original wheels and tires with newer Wolf wheels and Michelin radial XZL tires.Gerta fires right up and goes through all gears nicely. She transfers into four wheel high and four wheel low easily. Cosmetically, have replaced the driver's back cushion, hanged the front plastic grille to a wire grille, dded headlight guards and added proper British style turn and parking lights. These lights are not wired in, ut at least they replace the ugly rubber plugs. Also included, re two long new old stock US Military cushions for cargo area seating.I have the original plastic front grille and the original canvas soft top. The latter being ugly and faded, ut mostly waterproof. Both go with Gerta. The body is straight, hough the paint is faded. The lower pillar forward of the driver's door has rusted through and needs addressing sometime in the future. A 36 year old vehicle is going to need some level of repairs and restoration, utall in all, he 109 is fun to drive, s is. She's a real head turner and babe magnet, rovided you like survivalist type women. Please email questions or a request for a viewing. Thanks for looking.
