1980 Land-Rover Long wheelbase GS (or General Service) Two-door Soft top. Unusual ex-Ministry of Defense right-hand-drive 109". 76,275 miles showing and entirely credible. Awesome 5-main-bearing 4-cylinder engine is in exceptionally fine condition. Excellent drive line. Very straight body work. Perfect electricals throughout. Starts right on the button every time. This vehicle is ¾-ton specification and full heavy-duty military spec throughout. Twin fuel tanks. Military instrumentation. Military twin-fan-belt system with dual sheave pulleys and eight-bladed tropical fan, nd military oil cooler. Fitted with Salisbury 1-tonne rear axle (for Americans, his is the approximate equivalent of a Dana 60) and heavy-duty 24-spline military spec front axles as well. Dual-circuit servo-assisted [power] brakes, ilitary hood with quick release spare tyre anchorage system. Also fitted with the original Lucas military-spec lamps. Heavy-duty rear springs and raised shackles all around. Professional restoration completed in 2013 by the winner of approximately 50 international prizes. Fully soda blasted to bare metal, nside and out, nd resprayed inside and out in factory Deep Bronze Green single-stage acrylic enamel and garaged ever since. Every piece of "galv" (galvanized trim) has been removed, ot dipped in molten zinc, nd refitted. Has original tailgate (without the characteristic dent in the centre rib). Virtually new, 00% cotton "Sand" canvas top (with all solid brass fittings,) which has always been garaged, xcept for shows, ince new. Top is in excellent condition, ith good, lear vinyl windows. Twin Defender factory boomerang door mirrors. Good seats; currently offered as received, ith front seats, ut with a full compliment of optional seats this truck can carry ten. Goodrich radial Mud Terrain T/A tyres are 33 x 8.50 inches tall and have recently been mounted and balanced on freshly sandblasted and painted rims. Tread depth is almost new on all four tyres on the ground and the spare, pecially sized for bonnet mounting, as never touched the ground. All tyres were purchased and fitted simultaneously. This is an ex-FFR, r "Fitted For Radio" vehicle, nd as such is 24 volt throughout. It is also right-hand drive and is a superlative driving machine. Similar to many of the Land-Rovers restored by Dare Britannia, td., his is an exceptional machine and would easily find its place in the top 5 percentile points of all early Land-Rovers in North America.
