Car description |
---|
Offered on behalf of a friend, his immaculately-restored 1958 Lancia Aurelia Convertible. Acquired and owned from the early 1960s by the legendary Pittsburgh-based Lancisti Tom Sheehan, his car was actually Sheehan's first Lancia. By the late 1960s Sheehan had become the leading guru of all things relating to vintage Lancias in the United States, e founded the Lancia Parts Consortium during this period, hobby business which eventually became his full time occupation, nd which was the sole source for vintage Lancia parts in the US in the 1980s and 1990s. Sheehan ventured all over the world, s far as Malaysia and Argentina, o acquire hidden stocks of new-old-stock Lancia parts.
I personally acquired this B24 in 1993, fter Sheehan's passing, irectly from his estate. I kept the car until 2005 as my personal project. The current owner acquired it 10 years ago, e then spent in excess of $120,000 with marque specialists to complete the restoration in perfect fashion, nd he has used the car only sparingly for the last few years. It is now a sparkling and very capable Aurelia Convertible.
Even "as found" in 1993, his was a superb car. I stripped it to bare metal myself in the late 1990s and found it exceptionally well-preserved, efore we acquired it had been parked inside in Sheehan's warehouse for nearly 30 years, nd during this period it was never used or subjected to adverse weather, or did it encounter any of the typical meddling and abuse suffered by many Lancia Aurelias as they reached into the second decade of their existence. The period from 1965 to 1978 was very hard on many Aurelias, ut this one remained inoperable and parked in a corner for that whole period.
I very much regret parting with this car, did so only because I had a B24 Spider project, car which we still own. We also own a B20 GT currently in restoration. If I had available funds, would immediately buy this car back from the owner.
All components are matching numbers (factory build sheet available for reference), nd with matching original hardtop.
The car is garaged approximately one hour from New York City, nd is available for viewing. Please contact us for details.
