Selling my 1979 CJ7 that I have had since 1987. It was stock when I bought it and has gone through many transformations since then and literally grew up with my family and have many fun memories with it. It has been adult owned and driven and for the last 20 plus years garage kept and well maintained. Yes I have had it out and 4 wheeled some and it pretty much goes where one wants it to but has never been abused as this has been more of a hobby vehicle for me so. Last time I had it out off road was @ 3 years ago and has only been street driven since. This is street legal and drives down the road better than when it was original. It has never been wrecked during the time I have had it and the title is clean. Guessing I might be the 2 owner on this one. Perhaps you have heard the saying you do not buy a Jeep you build it. Well I guess that what could be said about this one is that it has been built and you can buy it. In the 28 years I have enjoyed it. it was my daily driver for a while. originally had a 6 cylinder and 3 speed transmission in it with stock axles. That is no longer the case. This is what it has in it currently Engine is a 77 AMC 304 V-8 that came out of another Jeep and was rebuilt by a local machine shop in 1992. if memory serves me correctly it was bored @ . 20 and had a mild 270 RV cam installed as well as double roller timing chain and the heads completely reworked. It has a Eldebrock performer aluminum manifold and a Howell Throttle body conversion. Air filter is a reusable. Summit K&N style over size cleaner with a pre-filter or you can use a paper element. Dual Exhaust with turbos. MORE Bomb-proof engine mounts. It is cooled by a Be-Cool aluminum fan and shroud and Be-Cool electric fan. Miles on it? Good question guessing @ 50. 00 since the rebuild. It starts and runs great. Battery is an optima yellow top. Several years ago I replaced the alternator with a hi-output one. All the lights work Clutch - Centerforce Transmission is a T-18 (4 speed with Bulldog low 1st) Dana 20 transfer case with JB Fab twin sticks Miles on the vehicle. another good question as the stock speedometer/instrument cluster gauges (gas gauge)was not working all the time so was replaced with aftermarket gauges. The current speedometer reads @ 366 miles which is not correct because of the gauge being replaced. Again Guessing maybe 165. 00 to 170. 00 on the frame and tub as it had @ 91. 00 when I originally purchased it in 1987 which is 28 years ago. Dash panel for access to gauges and inside the dash is hinged for easy access. The body/tub has been gone through and coated with POR15 and aluminum diamond plate has been added from the front fenders back and wrapping the tub. Seats are after market Bestop and are pretty comfortable. Mastercraft seatbelt harness on both side in front. The side bars are from Smittybuilt Floorplans have also been replaced and coated with POR15 and the frame has also been treated with it as well so everything is solid. The rear floor in the back over the axle is removable and is of aluminum as well. Also in the back is a removable plywood cover that bolts on or off. Front fenders are Poison Spyder tube fenders. Gen rite Hood Louvers. Steel heavy duty Rear swing away tire carrier and bumper with built in recicver and includes a place for a 4 way lug wrench and Hi- Lift jack that will mount either on the tire carrier or in the plywood shelf in the rear. Paint is on the tub olive drab and inside and underneath on frame and bumpers a POR15 rust is rust prevention/ inhibitor specialty paint and top coat. In 2008 the following was added - note I have only put on @ 2-3. 00 miles on the Jeep since this work has been done to date at the most. Replaced the speedometer during this time frame and it reads which is not original miles. Spring over suspension - this was done in a local shop and we used Blue torch full width axle conversion kit with front hoop and also with reverse shackles in the front. Ruff Stuff u-bolt spring plates and perches. shackles and other misc. brackets. The springs are Rubicon 1444 YJ SUA 1. 5" and also has a MORE anti wrap traction bar Axles Full size Dana 60 axle in the front with 488 gears. high steer arms. ARB air locker with onboard ARB compressor. PSC cylinder-assist power steering with remote reservoir and cooler Full size GM 14 bolt 1-ton axle with a Detroit locker and 488 gears. Tom Woods drive shafts front and rear with double cardon CV joints and 1350 series ujoints Tires - Super Swamper Iroc Bias ply 39. 5/15. 5/ 17 with 17" 8 lug - Trail Ready beadlocks and truck balancing beads inside. Vanco hydroboost brake system also added so it will stop when you want it too and has disc brakes on all 4 wheels Other items that are included Warn XD9000i winch and controls Overhead speakers with lights bar and lower speakers as well (4 total) with am/FM USB radio stereo for good sounds Teraflex Hand Throttle Line loc for use as a parking brake Custom shop built cage Bikini Top. winter wind breaker and summer wind breaker that go behind the roll cage Hard top with hard doors. This top does not have the original glass in the rear but does have a Plexiglas window on hinges that you can use or it is removable. Also have black 2 pc upper and lower Bestop soft doors as well for this that are in great condition that fit a Bestop Super top for a CJ. Have spare parts for the TBI (fuel pump. ECM computer and filter). a set of 4 - 38" Swamper Boggers that do not have much tread on (bought used) mounted on 16" Black rims that I used temporally and for a spare. Value is in the rims and for a spare Also have some NIB chrome valve covers. a set of rear stock springs. stock power steering pump and a few other spare parts that will included. This is a pretty good ol Jeep with no problems that I am aware of. Hate to see this go as have a lot of good memories. money and time in it but perhaps it is time to let someone else enjoy it and create memories as well with it. I just do not have the time and age is creeping up on me as well so not able to do everything I used to be able to do…. Plus have a few other interests I want to pursue and I plan to be moving in the near future. FYI - a lot of the work done was done by a shop and done right with no corners cut as I did not plan to sell this when the work was being done and have receipts for a lot of it. I do have a dual axle car trailer with brakes on both axles and a spare and straps that might be an option to purchase separately instead of paying someone to haul it as it is local pick up only. Will only consider selling it after the Jeep is SOLD. more pictures are available at this link on drop box - click here
