Here’s my 92 Renegade!
I LOVE Renegade’s, in fact they’re my most fave Jeep’s ever(I own a TJ and 2 JK’s, DIG these but Renegade’s r the COOLEST to me and I love the old 4.0’s the most)!
Last pic is a 91 I won on eBay back in 08 and I stupidly sold it, hv regretted it ever since!
So, I bought this 92 and seller to me was honest with its PICKS and I’ll be as honest with you here about its PICKS.
It originally started life in NY and from there it I’m sure saw it fair share of snow/salt and frame accumulated some typical type rust.
Worst being on rear side of frame but previous owner patched it.
Probably, it’s SAFE(?) like this BUT I found piece of frame that has been patched here on eBay for only $150 and I read online where several Jeep guy’s had this same part/piece replaced and pd $200 in labor.
Rest of frame to me looks solid from what I can c?.
It’s under coated, so looks decent.
Floors(tub) has some rust too but previous owner here somehow patched it and it now seems solid(u can stamp ur foot down all over the place and again, it seems/feels solid?).
Body looks nice(minus a little surface rust formation windshield frame(typical) but I don’t think it needs to be changed.
And the RARE flares r in GR8 condition minus one hairline crack on right fender(def easy to patch).
Now for the mechanics!
For me, they’re a perfect 10!
NO KIDDING, it runs/drives FLAWLESSLY!
This thing is a blast to drive!
Front end is TIGHT and motor runs like a new one(hard to believe I know but it’s 💯 true)!
Ck engine light is still functional and it goes off immediately once it’s been started.
Champ 500 wheels r in good condition minus needing a good polishing.
Top is in good condition, an older top so it isn’t perfect but it’s def passable.
NO AC(I c complete units on eBay tho for CHEAP $).
And interior overall is was/is in overall decent condition(2 cigarette burns, 1 on drivers seat and 1 on back seat).
Originally interior color was gray and it had no carpet but I wanted it RED(my fave) so I’m in the process of spray dying seats, door panels, and BRAND NEW gray carpet I bought for it(I spent $300 on carpet/spray dye alone).
I almost finished, basically just hv to install the new carpet into it.
Not a top notch job but is very decent!
I’ve looked for a LONG X for a Renegade and I DIG finally owning one again BUT my dream one is any color outside with a MINT RED interior and an auto trans.
I will pay GR8 $$$ for one!
I’m not dying to sell this one, if I do, I do, if I don’, I don’t!
I even added a NICE/VINTAGE Alpine CD stereo to this one.
The only other 3 PICKS I can think of to mention r 1, tire’s r old/fair(left rear one has a plug on sidewall so I recommend replacing tire’s soon), 2, drivers door stays closed ok but it technically doesn’t latch/lock and I just found out why today, it’s connecting rods inside of door r not connected(I only know this from removing/installing door panel, I saw the 2 rods off/disconnected?), and 3, drivers seat belt isn’t bolted down?. I honestly haven’t looked into why, I will tho and if something can be done easily I’ll address, if not, new owner will have to address.
I’m pricing is very FAIRLY(I THINK)!
These old Renegade’s r starting to bring RAIN and again they’re super hard to fix!
Even if u wanted to restore it PERFECTLY, u could!
$5,555.55 is a DEAL! Added some before spray dye pics, will added more interior pics after carpet is in.
Can recommend a fast/reasonably priced auto transporter if needed.
Thanks
