Up for auction: 1979 Jeep Cherokee Chief from Colorado. Purchased from second owner. 115k miles. original paint. 360 automatic with quadratrac full time 4wd. I purchased it in the spring and had it shipped here to NY. Not seen a salty winter yet. Runs and drives good. could probably use carb rebuild but it runs ok and is driveable. I put new plugs. MSD wires. cap and rotor on it and did a compression test which showed it's sound. No time to play with anymore. I have also replaced the stripes but have pictures of it before with the original decals faded and falling off so you can see it's a real chief. I also just had a new windshield and gasket installed. It has tilt. cruise. and AC. The last 2 are not working. AMC 360 which is a proven strong engine. turbo 400 trans that shifts perfect. Has clunking in driveline when going in and out of gear. think it needs u-joints. Time for me to move onto other projects. Other than the typical rust in the rear fender flares. which is common to ALL these Jeeps even from the west coast. it's rock solid. Killer Patina! Under the hood is a perfect example of how unmolested this Jeep is. Other than what I did it's basically untouched. Interior is fair. worst being drivers seat torn but should be fixable by a capable upholstery shop. Chrome is peeling on bumpers and crack in the grille. other than that the trim is all good. Rear window currently not working. 79 Jeeps had stiffer springs than earlier years so they sat higher and this one sits great. looks like 1-2" lift but it's factory. Super solid Jeep deserving a new and good home. All gauges work. rare for a Jeep! All lights work too. I drive it locally and it gets LOTS of attention. Any questions call 518-281-6058 or email here. Thanks for looking.
