Due to moving soon need to let go of some of my projects. Today is a 1981 Jeep Scrambler CJ-8 and included a 1979 Jeep CJ-7. Both have AMC 304 motors with 3 speed tranny, and clear OH titles. These are sold as is, I would classify as projects not road worthy at the moment. $6500 or make an offer.
1981 Jeep Scrambler - Bought as a project and it was to say it nicely, rough. PO had done some work, good and bad. I repaired bad sections on frame, cutting out sections and welding new steel in, not plating over. The 304 and 3 speed are not original, I'm guessing around 78-79. I had to do some fab work on tranny mount to get it to mount correctly. My goal with this jeep was to be a work Jeep, but to be sturdy and safe so I was starting at the ground up and due to moving soon I didn't make it to the body. It is stock height. Some new parts:HD Ball jointswheel bearings all aroundDrum brake rebuild kit on backCalipers/rotors on frontOverpriced batteryRebuilt carbHEI DistributorPlugs/WiresFuel pumpFuel linesBrake linesPower steering linesLeaf spring bushingsPoly body mount bushingsSway bars/disconnectsHeavy drag linkGas tank sending unitFuel hosesBrand new BFG Mud Terrain tires (5 total)+ more I'm sure I'm forgettingLots of time and new parts on this rig. Welded in a piece in the cab to mount seat. Does run, move and stop but has not been on street only in yard. None of the lights work, a couple gauges, wiring was going to be my next step. It will need addressed to get on the road. Passenger door shuts good, drivers side not so much. Beat, pull, and tug and it will shut but its a pia. Body is rough as you can see in pics. No bumpers. I have not tried the 4 wheel drive, or opened the pumpkins to check the gears and condition etc...
1979 Jeep CJ-7: Have had 304 running through bottle feed and jump pack. PO said hole in gas tank, no brakes. Air conditioned real good b/c the body is shot, lots of air gaps. Appears to be mainly all original. Even though body is bad, doors still shut very well so I would say its straight. I crawled under to get some pics, frame didn't look bad, has 1 section that looked like needs attention. This was not a thorough inspection, this is what i could see for pictures, no hammer test or anything like that. 4 wheel drum. Back hatch on hardtop is rough, would need replaced. Has Warn auto locking hubs, do not know if they work. Has the old style doors not the paddle doors like the Scrambler, has many usable parts for the Scrambler or would be a good candidate for a frame up rebuild. Has all seats and air cleaner.
Again let me stress, these are projects. The Scrambler is a work in progress and the CJ-7 basically untouched and will need a possible complete overhaul. Both Jeeps will need to be hauled away. Any questions let me know. $500 deposit required at end of auction. Located in Athens, OH. Being sold as is, no warranties, clear titles for each. No shipping. Paypal, Cashiers check, or cash only. $6500 or make an offer. Thanks
The Scrambler also has new power brake booster and Hedman Headers but no exhaust & muffler etc... The CJ-7 I assume is stock header to exhaust that comes out in front of the rear tires.
