Car description

INTERNATIONAL AND OVERSEAS BUYERS WELCOME! PLEASE CALL ME AT (76O) 805-8O3EIGHT WITH ANY QUESTIONS. I WILL BE HAPPY TO DO A BUY IT NOW FOR SERIOUS BUYERS. MY DOG JOHNNY CASH WOULD NOT BE INCLUDED IN THE DEAL FOR ALL OF THE MONEY IN THE WORLD! Pictures do not really come close to doing this Jeep justice. This is a remarkable 1981 Jeep CJ-5 4x4 that has been pampered and well taken care of it's entire life. I have had many Jeeps over the years. CJ5, CJ-7, CJ-8 Scrambler, even some Willys Flat Fender Jeeps. I love CJs. This is by far the nicest unrestored one I have come across. It is certainly not 100 percent stock and original either so please read on. If you are tired of looking at overpriced junk and are looking for a beautiful, turnkey, rust free Jeep THIS IS ONE. With the early Ford Bronco and International Scout markets going through the roof, it is only a matter of time before earlier Jeeps take off. Even if they don't, they are still a great alternative to spending big bucks on a Bronco. On October 30th of 1980 it was sold new at Rucker Motors in the desert community of Buckeye, Arizona to a gentleman named Pat Donohue. I have the original warranty paperwork from the dealership and even the original Salesman's business card from that day. It was shortly thereafter moved to the desert community of Bishop, California where it has remained for it's whole life.
The Jeep has always been garaged and it shows. It still retains it's rare original factory 1D code Autumn Gold paint and has never been re-painted. It is actually a bit lighter color (almost a pale yellow) than it appears in the pictures. We had a storm coming in tonight and the lighting was strange. It still looks great but please keep in mind that it is approaching 40 years old. It has some minor paint chips and spots where the paint is thinner than when it was new. These are on the round edges of top of the hood and some wear marks from getting in and out. I tried to show these in the pictures. It does have a very minor ding in the driver's side rear corner. It is barely noticeable and I tried to show it in a picture but it is difficult to see. I just want to be upfront and honest from the start so you are happy with your new truck. There is a single minor crack in two of the the plastic fender flares as I believe they are original. There is no rust on this Jeep. You will not find a more dry example of a CJ. The body, windshield frame, undercarriage, floorboards, frame, body mounts, etc. are all excellent. It is a lifelong desert Jeep and it has never had any rust. The dealer installed removable ACME hardtop has never been taken off.
The CJ has 117k original miles. The 258 cubic inch six cylinder engine was professionally rebuilt at 84k miles. It runs beautifully. It starts right up, settles into a smooth idle, and has plenty of power. It has none of the common Jeep carburetor issues like most of mine have had. It runs very smoothly. It cruises just fine down the freeway at 65 MPH. It does not wander and with the factory power steering, it is easy to drive. The four speed manual transmission shifts very easily. The clutch is good and it shifts like new. The 4WD works well. The brakes are excellent. The Air Conditioning blows very cold and works great. The AC and power steering are both wonderful options on a Jeep if you plan on driving them any amount at all. It is set-up and wired for towing. It has a towbar on the front if you want to tow it behind your RV and also a trailer hitch on the back if you want to take the dirt bikes to the Mountains. Remote controlled Warn winch on the front that will get you out of trouble if you get too crazy up in those same mountains.
The interior is very nice. Obviously the upholstery has been re-done. It looks great. There is a minor tear in the outside edge of the passenger seat. Nice woodgrain dash kit. Padded Roll Cage. Nice carpet kit. Locking storage boxes in the rear with speakers. Nice sounding Kenwood AM/FM cassette stereo. You can actually hear the music just fine even driving down the highway. All of the gauges work. All of the door locks and rear hatch locks work. Windshield wipers work fine. Nice aluminum wheels. 31x10.50 tires have good tread but are about 7 years old. All of the glass is nice. Clean, clear California title in hand and it has 2020 registration. All in all, you will have an extremely difficult time finding a cleaner Jeep. It is not perfect by any means but it is very, very nice. Please be realistic with your expectations.I am located in Cardiff, CA in North County Coastal San Diego. Inspections in person are encouraged. Thanks and good luck!
