Car description

This auction is for a 1972 Jeep CJ6. This is a rare CJ6 long wheelbase model, and the first year of the redesigned AMC Jeep. It is an early 1972 model, with build date of October 1971.

The jeep has a 232 6 cylinder (standard compression version, not the underpowered low compression version), 3 speed manual transmission, and Dana 20 transfer case. It also has the front Dana 30 and very desirable factory Dana 44 rear axle.

I bought this jeep in 2017 because of its rarity, and because it is a great foundation for a restoration. The previous owner bought the jeep in 1995 from a friend and used it as a plow vehicle on his private property in NY during his ownership. When I bought it, the jeep had no brakes and the clutch was completely worn. The previous owner fabricated this interesting wooden enclosure to keep him warmer in the winter months (the jeep has a factory heater which is bypassed), and also did the rattle-can green paint job.

To get the jeep driving, I did the following:
- Removed the snowplow and installed a OEM front bumper (not a cheap thin-metalaftermarket version)
- Full brake rebuild in all 4 corners (new wheel cylinders, brake shoes, parking brake shoes, master cylinder)
- Tune up (oil filter, air filter, fuel filter, spark plugs, engine belts)
- Installed correct OEM CJ steel wheels (refinished with rust proof paint) and 235/75R15 tires
- Clutch rebuild (new clutch disk, new pressure plate, new throwout bearing)

The jeep now runs, drives, and stops as it should. I have driven it two miles in one trip (from the shop to my garage) and it worked great. I have too many projects and need to let it go as I have run out of garage space. It is a perfect restoration project, since the frame is solid throughout. The body is not worth fixing in my opinion, so it needs a new body tub and a few smaller items such as acarb rebuild and a new heater core (original is bypassed).Mileage shows 19,786and is the correct OEM speedometer.

The jeep comes with the following parts to help with the restoration:
- Set of 1972-75 OEM front fenders(with the correct washer bottle box on the fender)
- 1972-75 OEM windshield in good condition
- Rear seat
- New Bestop Tiger Top (top bows in the rear bed in picture, the rest is still in the box)

Additional pictures and a startup video are available here: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/bmjf1pbf4z4hh2q/AAA63uEcLw4EHtG4PPU3qAaIa?dl=0. I included a picture of the jeep when I bought it with the plow, and frame pictures so you can see how solid it is. I also included a cold start video.

I am selling the jeep because I have lost my garage space and will not be able to complete the restoration. With all the parts I am including, the only big part missing is the body tub (which is readily available from jeep catalogs like Quadratec). I hope this rare jeep goes to someone who will restore her properly.

Buyer must arrangepickupfrom Astoria, NY 11105. I will make myself available to the buyer's shipper for scheduling. Jeep is sold on a transferable NY registration and Bill of Sale (NY does not title vehicles from 1972 and prior). Registration and license plates are current through the end of the year.
