Selling my 1992 Jeep Wrangler Islander. This was my daily driver for the last 6 years and the mileage is accurate. I purchased this from an auto broker out of Las Vegas, NV and have kept it in the desert of Southern Utah. It has never seen snow or ice and barely rainfall so no rust and the under body is clean. It runs and starts every time and no major issues. We are selling it due to a relocation, if we were staying in the desert no way would we be selling it. It is an awesome Jeep.
This is as pure a Jeep as I have seen especially for its age. No modifications to suspension, no lifts, no changes to the motor or transmission, no "shade tree mechanic" screwing around with it. With the exception of the radiator, rims and bumper this is a stock jeep and gorgeous.
I had it inspected for bends and frame issues, mechanical changes, etc. prior to my purchasing it. The inspection was done by a local shop who only works on Jeeps and 4 wheel drive vehicles. Since I have owned it nothing else mechanical, with the exception of what is below, has been changed.
I did remove the traditional Islander graphics, they were sun faded.
The oil has been meticulously changed every 6,000 miles with full Synthetic Mobil 1. Air filter replaced at least 2x p/year.
Good: Straight 6, 3 Speed Automatic. Great motor, runs solid. No transmission issues.
I have added a 2 row aluminum radiator last summer, runs well below normal operating temps even when 100+ degrees out. This was installed by a professional mechanic.
The rims and tires are aftermarket excluding the spare which is a stock rim.
The bumper is aftermarket and was added to have a hitch and takes the spare tire weight off the rear door. The rear door has no rattle, a 4 pin trailer harness is already connected and working.
The water pump was replaced prior to my buying it.
Never been jumped, no bends or cracks in the frame. No rust. All panels are solid.
Just added Neoprene seat covers & heavy duty rubber floor mats.
4 Wheel Drive worked last time I used it with no issues.
The half steel doors are original.
Power steering & power brakes.
Not so good:
It has had a small oil leak since I bought it. I check it regularly and refill when necessary.

My local mechanic quoted me around $300 to fix both seals. I never took the time to deal with it.
The gas tank needs a new rubber seal/plug on the top of the tank. When I had the new bumper put on by my mechanic the gas tank had to come down, when we did this a small rubber piece on the top of the tank had become dried and cracked and needs to be replaced. The tank holds 20 gallons.
The driver side seat has cracked vinyl and the seat belt quit locking in, I intend to replace this and will update the posting if I can get it done before it sells.
It has a soft top which will need to be replaced at some point, we only use the top 2 months out of the year and ours has one corner of the rear window where the zipper will not work for 4-5".
Front tires are worn.
Great jeep and a rare collectible for the right person, very rare to see a Jeep of this age and condition.
This is also for sale locally and I may need to cancel the posting prior to its conclusion.
Please contact me through eBay with any additional questions.
$500 Non-Refundable Deposit due within 24 hours of auction close.
