1981 Jeep CJ7 Laredo. This is a single-owner (before I bought it) triple black Laredo...one of the most desirable color combinations out there! I'm going to try to give the most thorough vehicle disclosure I possibly can. Nobody likes a surprise, so read carefully.
I recently purchased this Jeep from the original owner out of Los Angeles, CA. He kept the original window sticker, owner's manual, and I even have the original pink slip that I will title into my name prior to the winning bidder taking the Jeep.
The Jeep came equipped originally with the 258 inline 6 and a manual transmission. Well, back in 1999 the owner decided he wanted to put a V8 in the Jeep, so he removed the original engine and transmission and threw in a AMC 360. The 360 he put in there turns out to be problematic, so he reinstalled the 258, but sourced an automatic tilt steering column and converted this Jeep to an automatic transmission. The Jeep needs some wiring work, but is complete and ready to drive once that is done. I'm not a wiring guru, but should not be that difficult. The previous owner was a mechanic by trade, and did the swap very nicely. No hacking, modifications to the tub, etc.
The GOOD:
  • Very low mileage Jeep. 61,xxx original miles
  • 99.9% rust free. CA Jeep all it's life. Rust on floors appears to be extremely superficial surface rust.
  • Original paint, decals, and never any collisions
  • With minimal work, this will be a very nice Jeep.
  • Jeep has a lockable heavy-duty center storage console, and under seat storage boxes.
  • Seats are VERY nice. These are original Laredo seats. Passenger seat and rear seat will be incredibly nice with some detailing. The driver side seat bottom needs replaced. J & G Classic Jeep sells OEM style seat bottoms that match perfectly.

The BAD:
  • Hard top rear hatch has some minor, but very repairable rust (see photos). Hard top also has a small crack near the hatch on the top right corner, which is also easily repaired.
  • Factory roll bar was modified. Forward bars were added to the main hoop, which go to the floors. I would cut the forward bars off, grind the left over metal down on the OEM roll bar after they're cut, and re-spray the factory roll bar. Should be an easy, undetectable repair.
  • Since the forward bars were added, the window cranks could not be used. The previous owner wired in electric window solenoids. However, the original window cranks are included to revert back to OEM cranking windows. Nothing was cut, hacked, etc. for this modification, and it's easily reversible.
  • The front windshield frame needs replaced. It has rusted through because this Jeep sat outside for a few years.
  • Jeep does NOT run. Needs some wiring work.
So, it's a bit of a project, but nothing overwhelming. Would be a rather easy project and can be completed in a month or two, or sooner depending on your pace. The only thing not included in the listing are the fog lights. They have been removed for another project.

This Jeep will obviously need to be transported. I can assist with providing you a very reliable transportation company who has excellent prices. Or you can drive to Tucson, drink a beer with me, and trailer or tow your new Jeep home. That's sometimes better. $500 immediate PayPal deposit and bank wire or cashier's check due within 3 business days. I will mail the title out immediately upon payment completion.
