1989 Jeep Wrangler YJ 4X4 with a Chevy 305 V8 stick. Rebuilt but a truly unique vehicle. Read on.
I'm sure you are familiar with Christine, the 1958 Plymouth Fury that could repair itself, no matter what you did to it. Well, the Creep is a car that keeps trying to kill itself, mostly by plunging off bridges and staying in a constant state of disrepair, no matter how much money is spent to fix it. 4 mechanics have tried and failed to keep the Creep on the road. I am selling it for my best friend, who told me this strange tale, just a few days ago, on Oct. 22nd. I convinced him that night to let me sell it after 19 years of disappointment and financial burden, and after, it's third attempt to kill itself. It has been called haunted by it's mechanics. On one rare occasion, while it was running, it threw my dog out the side, while turning, she was okay. I have only been in it twice. There won't be a third.
The owner is a modest man who lives deep in the woods of the Green Mountains of Vermont. He has never owned a computer, had Wi-fi, or seen one minute of Netflix. He is 47 and we will call him Sticks. Since his teens, he dreamed of owning a customized bad-ass Jeep. He has paid dearly to achieve this dream. He bought it from a friend in 1999 and is the second owner. Unfortunately, this Jeep did not ever want to be on the road, or to be driven. Without driver error, the Creep has tried to plunge over 3 different Vermont bridges, built over rivers. This 19 year saga of disappointment is hard to believe and sometimes hard to take. Most would have given up the struggle, years, and thousands before Sticks, but he had a dream. This story is 100% true.
Murphy's Law:"things will go wrong in any given situation, if you give them a chance," or more commonly, "whatever can go wrong, will go wrong."
A few days ago, I visited Sticks and he said, "I got the Jeep back!" No shit, I replied. "Yup, it started spraying oil on my way here, from the engine, then the next day it drove itself across the street, turned hard left, avoiding the guard rail and slamming into a tree. "The dent is so bad, it seemed to be going faster than neutral, and, I just gave the guy $2000!" My mouth was wide open in shock. I replied, "That's creepy." He says, "Jeepy creepy." I then replied, "That Jeep is a real creep!" We then discussed the long crazy history of the Creep and I told him, "I can sell a haunted Jeep." "There are rich people out there that collect creepy ass things like this. Haunted dolls, boxes, furniture, bikes, you name it." "Wouldn't you like to get some of your money back from all those repairs?" He said "yes", for the first time, after years of scrutiny and good advice from friends and family, and his lawyer! You need the whole story. Find Creep the Jeep on fb and read the About section In 19 years, Sticks has spent a total of $33.800 to own his dream Jeep.So what happened?
It crashed over a bridge in the first year. The engine blew at 80K. The transmission dropped. The frame rotted and was replaced. The body was rotted and replaced. I replaced axles, differentials, radiator, and nearly every single part that could fail, and they did! Only the hood, roll bar, and stearing wheel, are original. It is a pretty, Frankensteins' monster with some serious balls under the hood.
Mechanic #1 "I hope I never see this Jeep again"Mechanic #2 "I really don't want to touch that thing anymore"Mechanic #3 "I knew I should have never agreed to fix that f**king thing"Mechanic #4 "I don't really believe in ghost and such things, but I swear this Jeep is haunted." Oct. 2018.
The intended buyer is a unique collector. The Creep belongs with other bizarre, cursed, possessed, and haunted items. It only seems content and at peace when it is parked. If the buyer plans to drive it regularly, we suggest installing another seat belt and wearing a helmet. And God be with you!
It does not currently need repair. It starts, runs, drives, but is not registered or inspected. Buyer should arrange transportation from Pittsford, Vermont, 05763. Buy it Now until Halloween at midnight. If not sold, the Best Offer, over 10K, will get it. Or it will be relisted Nov. 1st. Payment will be arranged by bank transfer or cashiers check. A Paypal deposit of $2000 is required for sale.
