Car description |
---|
Here we have a really nice Texas CJ5 with an AMC 360 V-8 and 4-speed manual transmission. Mileage on the jeep is 82,000. Judging from condition I would say it is actually 82,000 and not 182,000. If you're looking for a clean, mostly original CJ then this is it. The pictures really describe the condition well. The exterior clear coat is pretty much gone but most of the interior paint is still shiny. If you want to see something that isn't in the pictures or have any questions please feel free to ask.
The original 258 straight-six engine was losing power/compression so it was replaced with a used AMC 360. The AMC V8 bolts right in with no adapters or permanent modification required. Mileage on the engine is unknown but it seems to be a strong runner and gets up to highway speed just fine. The engine idles nice and pulls good vacuum. I've put about 500 miles on it since the engine swap and it's really fun to drive.
Has a retrosound radio with aux port and 4 kicker speakers. Also has all the Tuffy locking storage boxes with keys (glove box/center console/rear fender storage). I also put a JB Fabrications twin stick shifter on the original Dana 300 transfer case. Jeep has the original Dana 30 front axle, AMC 20 rear axle, and T-176 transmission.
You will probably want to plan on having the exhaust done. I improvised some quiet dual exhaust with 2.5" flex pipe and walker cats and mufflers because the nearest exhaust shop is about 3 hours away and there are no bolt-on kits available.
It has a 2 year old Bestop soft top with soft doors and a Bestop Bikini top.
Also, if you want it, you can have the Acme hard top that is pictured at the bottom. The main fiberglass body of the top is faded but solid and has no cracks or holes. All of the hard glass is in tact but the plexi-glass sliding window on the drivers side is broken. The rear hatch needs struts and the doors/roof edge need all new weatherstripping. The door handles are keyed alike and they latch and lock. It would work great as a "summer top" without the doors installed.
This jeep has a ton of new parts including radiator, heater core, clutch, brakes, etc. Please see the list below the additional pictures.
I don't know the story behind this irregular hole in the side of the tub but it is covered by the diamond plate side guard.
The picture below is directly behind the drivers seat on the fender, it's really the only rust spot on the interior aside from some minor bubbling around the dash panel mounting screws.
A previous owner coated the front fenders in a bed-liner type product.
It looks like there is a little bit of a bondo repair on the passenger side.
