For Sale: 1981 Jeep CJ8 Scrambler 5.3 LS V8!
This is one badass Scrambler! The body has been kept original while the drivetrain is anything but! The engine has been upgraded to a fuel-injected Chevy 5.3 liter 300hp LS-series V8!!

Driveability:The Scrambler was V8 swapped and mated to the original T-18transmission andtransfercase properly using Advanced Adapters. Nocarburetor to mess with, just turn the key and if fires up asreliably as a new Tahoe. Unfortunately, I can't be certain of the miles on the engine. I can say that it feels great, does not smoke, does not leak, looks great, no stumbles, no hesitations, and gets up and goes very strongly with tons of power! Cruise 70-80mph effortlessly with passing power on demand! The T-18 4-Speed is aheavy duty transmission, albeit a bit notchy, it will handle all the power without failure. I'm not certain of the axle gearing but I would estimate 2000rpm at 70mph. A nice cruiser at speed. I don't experience any drivelinevibrations or shakes. The front end is tight and responds quickly. Turn-in is crisp with power steering, tracks straight without awhite-knuckle experience, and brakes well with powerbrakes.
Body:Original Floors. Original Bed. The Jeep is 99% rust free. There area a few spots around the fenders that show a bit of rust, but not extreme. It came to me from Georgia. It's been a southern Jeep. No rot, no holes, no rusted mounts, excellent frame, just a couple spots of surface rust showing. The paint is ingood condition. It's showing just a bit of age but still presents well. The clear coat is in great shape. no fading. I'd fault it by saying there are a couple small chips and maybe a ding or two. The tailgate does show some damage. It looks as if it was pushed a bit from the inside at some point. Cosmetics are subjective, and I'm a bit critical, but the Jeep is totally acceptable to drive and still look good for at least I'd say 5 years to come or so. The pictures are not hidinganything! The bed, rollbar, and interior floor has been "rhino lined" at some point in the past. Also, as you can see, the spare is mounted up in the bed between the rollbars!
The wheels are brand new 18x9 XD Addicts with 35x12.50 Kumho MT's. Looks tough!! The bumpers are ProComp with D-Ring Shackles. And the Smittybilt winch istheir brand new waterproof, wireless, 10,000lb model.
Interior:The Interior is fairly original. The seats are original. There is a small tear on the drivers seat from in and out's. The dash is in good shape with aftermarket temp., oil pressure, and voltage gauges mounted below it. The doors shut well and flush with the body, which is a bit of a rarity, but they could beadjusted up a bit because they leave a bit of a gap between them and the hardtop. Not a huge deal as the truck is 36 years old but it'ssomething to note and correct if you ever painted it. Stereo is complete with a couple 6x9 speakers behind the seats. Heater is working well. Window cranks and doorglass are in good condition. There is a small crack in the windshield. All electricalis working. Headlights, turn signals, brake lights, stop lights.
Overall, the Scrambler is A LOT of fun!!! Itdraws attention everywhere it goes and impresses with the VERY CLEAN engine swap!!
Pictures speak for themselves. Message me with any questions. I can assist with shipping.
